Haemukwan is the name of Hackworth's Kwan. 2) Master Pan, Gong Song has indicated on several occasions that the KMAIA did not exist in Korea, and that he had been approached to be its head by Hackworth. 3) Hackworth did not create the KMAIA. The first president was a gentleman named Beck. From what I have gathered, and I am not too clear on this, Hackworth assumed it from Beck in some fashion. According to him because Beck had gotten busted selling rank... (now THAT makes you wonder...) 4) Hackworth, with all of his faults, is an extremely intelligent person. The only way to catch him in this fantasy is to note the inconsistencies in the various stories. This is the one of the things that led up to my being able to discern that I had been deceived. If memory serves this Kyung Ok Lee was the person that was supposed to succeed Pan, Gon Song as president. Note: In my opinion, if Hackworth had been honest, and a little more user friendly, there would be nothing wrong with the KMAIA. He does put on first rate events. The problem is that he chooses to bash others instead of furthering KMA. So much more could have been accomplished if he had not wasted time on needlessly attacking others. To be perfectly honest, no one cares where your rank certificate comes from, save for the person himself, or those with financial stakes in the matter. If he had not misrepresented the fact that the certification comes from organizations that did not provide them, then there would be no issue. The fact remains that his ethics must be questioned because of what happened not only to me but to others. I hope this helps. That being said, he seems to gone out of his way to distance himself, so he must be viewed as his own man, until he proves otherwise. >From Mr. Hackworth I had heard that TKDT may take several months to publish an item that had been submitted to them. I cannot say either way, other than it may be true, and that Mr. Arce should be given the benefit of the doubt in this matter. Regards, Frank Thank you Master Clay. I thank you, Master Lim, and Master Whalen for going out of your way to help me and the others that got dirty by way of association to that man. Thank you for the close communication and extended hand in friendship, during the melee that this man created. Peace....... Steve Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance Tax Center - File online. First, Master Clay who is on the West end, just past the SF Valley(strong KHF tie to Masters Lim and Whalen). And Master Fariborz Azhakh on the West end of the SF Valley. Master Azhakh has trained under a mutual friend named Reza Nasri. I helped Reza train for UFC 11 ("The Proving Ground") in 1996, at Fariborz's student, Bobby Alipanahi's Reseda/Tarzana Dojang. Fariborz and Bobby have excellent Hap Ki Do skills and are great Instructors... Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance Tax Center - File online. I know that GM Hee Il Cho world famous but is the video worth buying? -----Original Message----- From: JR Hilland [mailto:hkd@fuse.net] Sent: 19 January 2004 16:09 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] modifying your curriculum I spent 15 years modifying my curriculum and it is sad to see groups like NAPMA talking about nothing but making money and adding the latest trend. I have watched a nearby school in town go that way. The school started out in one of the traditional karate styles, but EVERY time I go by there, they are doing something else like a women's cardio-kickboxing class, etc. Only once, did I see a traditional class. Obviously they have a high student turnover rate. The founder of the school is a seasoned traditionalist, but as he retired and the young son started teaching, the curriculum changed and they lost sight of the core curriculum. I have no desire or need to change the art itself. It is not my place to say this or that does not work - to me, that is just another way of saying that I need to learn more. Changing your curriculum can be a good thing, but it can also send you away from the core essence of the art. Your duty as a teacher is to promote the art with an open mind. A good instructor provides a 'value added service' to the community, the students and the art and will adjust the curriculum to reflect this with out taking away from the art. He/or she also learns that if they do not teach part of the art, it could get lost. Just my opinion. Jere R.
