Hello Edward. I am glad to hear you are coming to work out with us; however, I hope I can instill in you a great desire to go to more such events despite longer distances. Once you are hooked (like I was/am) on training/teaching, a 10 hour drive is a piece of cake just to go get some icing:) For example, I drive each year to Jackson, just to spend time with my friends doing what I like best... teaching and helping a good friend run one of (if not THE) best seminars in North America. The drive from my home to Jackson is about 1200 miles one way. With more people like you attending, and a good organizer like Master Jason Thomas as a host, I hope the Austin seminar will turn into another great event for Hapkido people. Unfortunately my seminar schedule for 2004 is quite hectic which forced us to hold the event too close to the Jackson event, next time we won't have to do that. Sell Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2004 21:33:21 -0500 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net First lets set the record straight. I am a proud member of USCDKA. I cannot take offense to your comments Kevin because I comepletely agree with them. Tim Walker asked me: "What makes his org any more real and credible than anyone else's?" My response is to point out that my TKD school was very nearly associated with Richard Hackworth so, by way of one example, I can say the USCDKA, GM Sell's organization, is more credible than at least one other organization. This one example is sufficient to handle the "anyone else's" part of your question.. Furthermore I have limited experience with other organizations but can see the quality of the black belts in the USCDKA, the testing requirements, the black belt review boards, the instructors ladder and believe this is a great organization with a great leader. Is it better than all others, no, that would be too presumptious on my part to make such a statement. Is GM Sell credible himself. Do not take my word for it but note that he is a 9th Dan Kukkiwon and I believe only highly credible martial arts get this level of recognition. Kevin did a great job of listing GM Sell's accomplishments and I will not repeat them here. Do not think I am flaming other organizations just because I am proud of USCDKA and respect GM Sell's accomplishments.
