Choi did not teach much kicks in the techniques. Only to defend against. I spoke to Grandmaster Lim, Hyun Soo (http://jungkikwan.com/index.htm), my teacher last evening. GM LIM studied with Founder, Choi, Yong Sool and earned 9th Dan from him. He informed me that Choi, Yong's Sool's original Hapkido had very few kicks (only about 10 kicks). He further stated that Ji,Han Jae and and from what I could understand a Master Kim (possibly Tae Kwon Do) added the kicks. What are your defenses against multiple attackers armed w/firearms? Lets say one with an M4A1 or M16A2, one with a 12 ga. and one with a 1911, and lets throw in one with a katana and one with a dagger just for good measure. No fair saying "run away" as I doubt you can outrun a 5.56. :) Or against a ballbat up side the head when your back is turned? Hopefully I am getting through. No style can guarantee survival against any and all attacks. Especially when your guard is down or you're a bit drunk or sleepy or on poor footing in the dark. In short, sh*t happens. > Ego kills, not people. Exactly. And over confidence kills also. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > Master Jeff Allen > Chief Instructor > President-American Headquarters > www.hapkiyoosool.com > www.intlhapkido.com > International Hapkido Federation Jeff, Is this the same International Hapkido Federation in Korea that does Hankido as well as Hapkido? It appears to be different, yet the above IHF site claims to be the only Korean goverment recognized IHF. The IHF at www.hapkido.or.kr is also recognized by the Korean goverment. Related? Dahlonega is approx 1 1/2 hrs north of Atlanta. In addition to a number of exhibits, they demo hand to hand combatives, helocasting and other things. Been the last couple of years and it is very impressive. They start the demo at noon, but get there early as traffic can get bad.
