The sine wave thing has been going on for a LONG time. Has anyone considered the up down sine wave is the same basic motion in the vertical plane (hips up/down) as is the foward/back motion (hips front/back) is in the horizonial (sp?) plane??? Can it be that when you do a combo of both up/down front/back hip motion with each movement you get the best of both?? Just some thoughts from someone who has been taught that from the start. The ITF patterns where done much differently than the way I learned them with the USTF/ITF from the late 80's to the present. They were much more karate like -- fast, flatline and big arm movements. > But that tells me as much as an innovator Rhee KJN was, he didn't > retain it or add it back to his ITF stuff... > I have seen research that demonstrated that rotating the fist fully > (to palm down) does not add any striking power, but the kihap does show > a measurable increase in power. > > Like Luc I like to train with martial science over martial tradition... > So I'll keep the full power hip rotation, deep abdominal kihap, and 3/4 > rotation punches and leave the rest for others.... > An insteresting comment, sir. It appears that what you are training with is martial tradition -- the way Chang Hon TKD was done originally not the way it finally developed. The Chang Hon systems conintues to used hip rotation, deep abdominal kihap and punch rotation. Added to that was the concept of "knee spring" which was later named "sine wave". > Yours in Jung Do, > > Charles Richards > www.mojakwan.com > Regards, Robert Martin --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 11 May 2004 09:08:49 -0700 (PDT) From: luke rose To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Jeffrey and visualizaton Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Jeffrey, You talked about some of the home training you do and you mentioned using visualization. I was just wondering what and/or how you visualize. I have used visual training for about 15 years and merely hope to get some new ideas. Luke --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? I thought it was extremely well put and I couldn't agree more with what was said. I see myself becoming a simple man as you put it. However, youth and inexperience still gets in my way at times. Your attitude that came through your post was very inspiring and I don't even know you. Hopefully someday we will meet face to face. Just wanted to let you know how it affected me and my guess is that it affected others as well. Be Well, Luke --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! I hope this isn't an inappropriate question. If so, please ignore. Just curious...does Kong Shin Bup have a designated "inheritor" in terms of someone that is ready and able to "take over the reigns" in case of the inevitable. I completely understand if this is not a subject for public discourse. No agenda here...just friendly curiosity. Thanks, and congratulations on the promotion.
