The alternative is to keep them on the payroll while the company goes down the tubes - in the end the result is the same for the employee but more employees are affected and there's no company left to profit the shareholders or serve the customers. Back when I worked for others I was laid off twice - now that I work for myself, when times are tough I get to lay myself off. :) >My >point is Hapkido is something that I hold dear. But one doesn't have to be incorporated or belong to a big business to cheat others. A criminal who's also a CEO is the same as a criminal who isn't. By the way, I've always had the highest respect for GM Kim Jinpal's Hapkido. Do you study directly with him? There are some amazing photos on the web site - I recognize GM Ji HanJae in the photo from the Blue House Dojang but it's hard to make out the rest of the photos. Do you know most of people in those pictures? I am thinking that the Baldrige Business Category may be helpful. As a member of ASQ, quality is something I care very much about. For more information on ASQ: www.asq.org and on the Malcolm Baldrige Award program www.baldrige.org. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I know that this will be a lot of work, and in many cases thankless, but the end result should be customer, or client, satisfaction. Mr. Tomlinson, In regards to your post about me not mentioning Hapkido, I also did not mention Taekwondo. Considering our logo displays the words Taekwondo and Hapkido, I felt such a discussion would be redundant. We are not forming this organization for the "betterment of Hapkido". We are forming this organization for the betterment of ourselves and our students. One of the things that sets us apart is our emphasis on the student. I am not going to apologize for placing emphasis on quality or client satisfaction. To me they should come first. Not the art. I have learned that if you give someone decent honest training, they are pleased, so we are also not talking about watering down anything, before anyone jumps to that conclusion. At any rate, I feel at this point, it is best to thank our supporters and well-wishers, and agree to disagree with those who do not agree. --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 18 May 2004 18:34:12 -0700 (PDT) From: Charles Richards To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Management software Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net ".....I was wondering what MA management software folks are familiar with, and which ones get recommendations. I have recently gotten a web site up, and the next thing I want to implement is front counter productivity. I need software to log payments, keep student profiles, manage attendance toward rank testing, etc. Right now we track all this on paper, and sometimes have to enter the same information multiple times. I don't want to create something that might already be out there in use. I appreciate, in advance, any information you can share. A little background: I train in and teach Tae Kwon Do in the Midwest, and have done so for the last twenty years in the same area. I work another full-time job like many other instructors. Five of my black belt students help me teach around ninety students." Dear Jeff, Master Vision 2 by paladin programing can do all that and more. Back in 1996-1998 I used Blackbelt Management as sold through NAPMA and it was quite similar, But I think MV2 is still a little more flexible. Plan on a long saturday and a few cold ones to setup all the data, but it will be worth while once you start using the reports. Setting up the Inventory will take you a full weekend, but can go a little quicker if you paste and copy. Reports I use all the time Who's testing (any month or date range) Address Book email list (can paste to clipboard) Condensed belt order list Activity report (calls/appts/intros/enrolled) Source report (where do enrolements come from?) Attendance record single student (by date range) Can flag and unflag records for custom reports to honor the "no selling" rules (I think) email me privately and I'll send you the link to the site where you can download a 15 day trial. If you buy from them they just send you the unlock codes (like Intuit products). BTW, I'm jealous. I have one 15 y/o Brown belt to help me teach 35 students and I too work full time :-) Yours in Jung Do, Charles Richards www.mojakwan.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? It isn't that I "got clarification", it is that the concept became clear to you. I have been trying to make the point to those that claim to be doing Chang Hon TKD that, in fact, they are doing something else unless they are doing what Gen. Choi taught up until his death. Don't call it "ITF style"; don't call it "Chang Hon" unless your TKD is the way General Choi wanted it. Robert Martin > ----------------------------- > > Finally, we find the common ground. What do you hope to get out of association with an organization. Please consider the operation of a dojang and as an individual MA. Thank you.
