Due time constraints imposed by my work situation there is a limit in how far I can travel to/from the school. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Richard Kolyer Our Dojang is about 15 Min north on the Spaulding trn pike (Dover) We practice TKD, HKD, GHD. Almost everyone gets caught up in the association and certificate run at one time or another. The question is if an association came and revoked all of your certificates and rank what have you lost? I my case I believe I would loose a piece of paper and that is it. They can't take the knowledge and experience away from me. While it is nice to have an association to belong to, I can honestly say when a student walks through the door of my school they could care less about which association I belong to, what rank I am, or any of the rest of that. Their main question is what can I do for them, and what can I teach them? (After the first question, how much is it? :)). I chose my instructor based on his knowledge and ability to teach me that knowledge, rank never played into the equation, and association was by chance. An association can give you very little, it is an instructor (regardless of title, aka master, grandmaster, and so on) that can give you knowledge, experience and advise. Oh well, back to training. The weekend was absolutely incredible. I can't express enough what it's like to learn from Dojunim. It seems that Dojunim continues to refine and improve with every day. He is truly a treasure and an amazing man. I feel blessed to have had these opportunities to learn from this great man. I would like to thank him for generosity, instruction, and patience. The weekend was also filled with building of new friendships and getting to know great people from all over the country, Canada and Switzerland. Hamburto, Sean, Dayo, Patrick and Javier,it was a pleasure and honor to share the mat with you. It was also an opportunity to get tossed again by Todd, Mike T. and Chris LaCava. You guys are class acts. It was probable the most fun I have ever had being taught by Dojunim and being tossed by these top quality Hapkido practitioners. Dojunim covered step techniques, every type of grab from the front and rear, bear hug, full nelson, prone, cane, punch techniques. He also covered breathing, meditation, and kicking techniques. For those that missed it, we'll do it again next year and if you can't make my seminar, sign up for any of the others. You will know then why everyone who has the opportunity to train with Dojunim is blown away. --__--__-- Message: 5 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] CT Sin Moo Seminar Thank You To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 13:35:14 -0700 (PDT) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > For those that missed it, we'll do it again next year > and if you can't make my seminar, sign up for any of > the others. He is a great guy and the best I have ever seen on the mat. He isn't getting any younger, so check him out while you're able. Don't you guys get it, he is right here in the US and trained ALL of these Koreans you are talking about so why not go to the source instead of trying to go around it. Oh I guess then you would have to be humble, learn, sweat, and act like your not the big shot... my bad.. I guess I've spoken out of turn again,, because we all know the most important thing in Hapkido couldn't actually be the training.... right. Again,, too many chiefs and not enough indians,, oh I'm sorry Mr. Clay is actually an indian,, I forgot..funny thing is that I remember a few years ago Mr. Clay and Mr. Hackworth trashing GM Hwang Duk Kyu's name and organization but now I guess we've flipped the old organizational coin again,,, and poof..let's all forget our past and create a new one....you guys truly crack me up,,,only the names have changed but the BS still smells the same!! Unreal,,, as the world turns Hapkido style....lets all make a buck and become a great grandmaster and hang out with each other.. I'll be Cochise, and you guys can fight over who will be Sitting Bull or is it Sitting in Bullsh-t?
