I have had GM Hodder and Master Mac to my annual seminar (and Master Terry), and if it wasn't for thier very generous nature, we would never break even on the seminar. The first year I think I lost about $150 which was CHEAP to have GM Hodder in my home for the weekend. I think I talked his ear off and kept him up into the wee hours prying "history lessons" out of him. Not to mention the sunrise escrima workout in my back yard :-). I think I broke even when Master Mac was here last year which was a real steal as he MADE TIME to go over my higher dan requirements and some kewl weapons work ON HIS WAY TO THE AIRPORT Sunday. This year I'm gonna work real hard at staying in the black so I guess I will be guilty of hosting a semianr for profit :-) Which leads me to a shameless plug :-) The 4th Annual Moja Kwan Moo Do Camp is set for September 26th (A Sunday) at Red Top Mountain. $25 for youth half day and $50 for adult all day (pre-registered) T-shirts will be $15 (I think) You can stay on the mountain for $14 a nite with a BYO tent or $120 a nite for a room at the lodge (prices for everything in between including RV's) Saturday nite we will toast GM Hodder's 40 years in the martial arts. When I recieved my first dan I was determined that by the time I tested for second dan I would not be nervous. I began controlling my breathing at my tests. Every time I felt the nerves and the body begin to tighten I began to slowly breathe in thru my nose and out my mouth. By my third test of 6 to be able to go for second dan I found myself using this technique with out thinking about it. I tested in june for second dan and was not at all nervous due to the breathing technique! I really enjoyed the test and did so much better being somewhat more relaxed. Even in sparring, not my most confident activity, I was able to focus so much that I scored several controlled points. So thats what works for me, even in competition! sandy --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Patrick Baeder Organization: Auburn Academy of Martial Arts, LLC To: Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Seminars Date: Sun, 8 Aug 2004 20:04:47 -0400 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Charles, Is this the same location that you used for last years seminar? I enjoyed myself and look forward to coming again this year.
