I am 71 and have been studying Taewkwondo for the past eight months; I have reached the level of red belt. I am training extensively, three to four times per week, and hope to be able to test for a black belt in another one to one and a half years, by which time I will be 72 or 73. My question is: how close is this to being a record? Hi Ash, It is great to hear about your accomplishments. Gives us all something to shoot for. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall reading in TKD Times about someone getting their TKD 1st Dan in their 80s. Go to http://www.nbcolypmpics.com/ or go directly to http://www.nbcolympics.com/results/1549029/detail.html#day13 TKD competition is from 08/26 to 08/29. There are something like five to seven channels carrying the Olympics: NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, USA, Telemundo, and I think another NBC subsidiary. (For the stations that don't have NBC in their name, I think NBC has 'rented' airspace from them.) Anyway...I think this website could be better done; it's a little bit of a pain to find out when the event you want to watch is actually airing. If you follow a link off of their site, you can find http://nbcolympics.zap2it.com/tv/search.jsp When I go there and tell it to search for Taekwondo on all days, the first hit is August 26th, at 5 AM on MSNBC; you should have two hours of live TKD match coverage. Now, 5 AM in what time zone...I don't know. I think it may be Athen's time, so convert that however. Cheers. --JW --__--__-- Message: 12 From: "Jordan" To: Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] TKD in the Olympics Date: Wed, 18 Aug 2004 10:31:23 -0500 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > The TKD competitions in the olympics begin on Aug. 26. There's a link in the banner for http://www.nbcolympics.com/ that says 'Video'. You can, after the day you want is over, order from there. --JW --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
