This is one of my few and far between transgressions into the light. I have been visiting Mississippi regularly for 5 years now and have had many memorable moments, and bruises, and fear of being eaten by a hell beast named Manson. The hospitality the Mississippi Mutants have shown to all of us down in the lower Houston area (Seabrook) has always made us feel welcome. Master West and his mutants have gone out of their way time and time again in attempt to help me get ready to test. I have to say I came to Jackson, for the first time, apprehensive about the unknown that would happen this weekend. The weekend of August 27, 2004 I will remember for the rest of my life. VIVIDLY ! Master West, Thank you for this experience. You reinforce once again why so many travel from around the country and world to participate with you and those around you. I cannot imagine a greater honor than to have my certificate signed by you Master West, my instructor Master Rich Hodder and Master Don Kursch. This is genuinely a humbling experience. I want to also thank Master Hodder for putting me thru this . . . nightma . . . um event, my friend Tuan Nguyen for jumping in at the last minute and being my Uki. Master Kursch for testing me and for allowing Tom Stanford(affectionately known as "the Big Galoot") to join in the fun and frolicking. Hope that bruise on your chest goes away. My "Posse" Joan and Lauren. And finally, Thanks to Katt for finding me when I thought I was well hidden. I can, however, work-out at the gym (Gold's) where they have many machines and equipment available. My question is this.. is there a good book, or a resource to help me plan my workouts, not only to stay in shape, but to enhance the shape I'm in? I already talked to a trainer there and to get more sessions, it's expensive. So any resources you have would be appreciated. I really enjoy this list and look forward to doing martial arts again - maybe in about 4 months! Kim P. Hayward, CA Grnflea To laugh often and much. To appreciate beauty. To find the best in others. Just to let you know, though, I have the "Legacy" CD-Rom and the version of the encyclopedia on *those* CD's is the first printing. There have been two (maybe three?) more printings since then with some *minor* changes made (for example, the slow motion side kicks in Moon-Moo have moved from middle to high kicks... yeah! ;-). If you're planning on getting this new CD-Rom you may want to call Com-Do and ask which versiuon it is. BTW, just out of curiosity, when you say you have every book published by Gen. Choi does this include his original Korean language primer on Taekwon-Do? I've never seen a copy but would love to hear what it includes (it was pretty short if I remember correctly). >ps. Congratulations on the promotion! If you are doing ITF patterns you will soon be learning the pattern Juche. My condolences ;^) That damn thing is the bame of my existence! Have fun! I live in the UK and have recently taken up Tae Kwon Do and I am lovin' it. I am interested in learning the Korean language necessary for the Martial Art and maybe more. I have searched the internet and have found a couple of sites that teach you how to count to ten. I need something with sound files to get pronunciation. I have also tried to find language courses on CD or CD Rom unsuccessfully. Can anyone advise me on where to find suitable resources. He earned his rank in Korea. I met him at a tournament a couple of months ago. I observed his students, and they have excellent technique. You may want to check him out. I don't know his address or phone #, but he is based out of San Antonio. Good luck. Sam Saenz III Dan United Martial Arts Society __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! The masters, their assistants and my fellow participants consistently showed me their enthusiasm to teach, their friendly welcome to a Canadian “stranger”, and kind patience. Thank you. I learned a lot of new principals and techniques while making a host of new friends. I would highly recommend the USKMAF seminars to anyone, regardless of martial arts style or belt level. Thank you Master West for hosting the seminar and leading such an amazing group of martial artists. Where the head leads, the body follows. Along with the much better facilities and terrific instructors, got to see a lot of old friends and met many new ones. Master Jason Thomas assisted me with a TKD/TSD workout seminar early Friday afternoon before the Friday sessions got started. Sweating early got me warmed up for the Friday evening sessions that were a blast. That evening I went out with the other crazy TSD folks from Georgia and saw a new form: “Bud-zai” :-) Saturday began with the “Master’s Demo” which was very interesting, which included a form with a filled tea cup – and the little spill at the end was easily mopped up with GM West’s demonstration where he used his students to help mop it up. There were 7 sessions Saturday (with 3 seminars going on during each session) which helps you work up an appetite for Wood’s Restaurant were everyone had time to sit and relax getting to know each other. More mingling and having fun after dinner made it a very long and satisfying day. It was also great seeing Grandmaster Dr. He Young Kimm again. Sunday morning many had to leave but the seminar still had 3 sessions to go. I found how hard Chris’ shin bone was with my big toe, but luckily I don’t think I broke it (my toe – not his shin). I’m sitting here now with ice on my foot as I type this. So at least I didn’t hurt myself until the end of the seminar – but of course it had to happen during the seminar I was teaching…. I’m sure that was real impressive. Another successful seminar. I know many couldn’t make it this time, and y’all missed a good one. It was well worth the investment, and I encourage those who can to start making plans for the next one being held March 11-13, 2005. I hope I get this all correct (and name spelling), but here is the list of sessions taught: TKD/TSD Workout – Master McHenry & Master Thomas Teaching Drills – Master Reed Joint Techniques – Master Lyons Counters – Master Mangum Grabs From Behind – Master West Blocking & Escaping Techniques – Master Hodder Ground Fighting Techniques – Master Smith Yudo Hip throws – Master Kirsch Pressure Point Techniques – Master Terry Cane Techniques – Master Propst Double Pressure Points – Master Watkins Multiple Techniques – Master Hilland Palm Striking Techniques – West’s HapKiDo Mutants HapKiDo Techniques for Short/Little people – Dr. Sanders & Dr. Tao Punch defense – Master Peacock Partner Drills – Master McHenry Black Belt HapKiDo Class – Master West Yours in the arts, Mac ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
