The service and food was outstanding. I was headed to the seminar Saturday afternoon from my room and one of the hotel employees ask "Ms. Kelly is everything alright with your stay so far". I was quite impressed this lady remembered me. I encourage everyone to make the March seminar. Special greetings to our northern friend Lois, I hope you had a great time and will join us again. You have great spirit to travel all the way from Alberta Canada to join us mutants and your presents at the Texas after hours gathering Saturday certainly made it more fun. Thank you Master West as well as everyone else for a fantastic weekend and I hope to be able to see you all again soon. I just wanted to add my comments to those who've already commented on the seminar... I knew I was going to enjoy it and get more than my money's worth when I had a page of notes Friday night.... before the seminar even began. :-) Just watching others practice gave me some ideas and principles to work on. Some were specifically what they were working on, and others jarred something that made me think about how other techniques could be modified / adapted to other situations... It was definitely a terrific time... For those that I met and got a chance to visit with or take a seminar with, thanks! This includes, but is not limited to Master West, Master Terry, Master Hodder, Master Thomas, Master McHentry, Master Richards, Master Hilland, and many many others... For those I didn't get a chance to visit with, or those I did, but didn't know you were on this list, you couldn't miss me. I was the big guy with a goatee and white dobok with TEAM MAS in huge letters on the back... :) I also got to meet with several people who aren't on this list... You know that a seminar is a success when you're able to learn from a white belt in hapkido, but teach something to a 3rd dan in TKD... I also found the group in general to be traditional and formal, but not rigid. That type of respect for others of all ranks is what I truly enjoy in the martial arts, and it was very evident there... Everyone emptied their cup before stepping onto the carpet to train, and that is what it's all about. Getting to meet Dr. Kimm and have a picture taken with him was a truly terrific experience... He was very gracious and accommodating... I just wish I'd had the money to get a copy of every book and video he had for sale... And those Korean swords! Oh my, they were beautiful... :-) As for Wood's Family Restaurant, what can I say? If you love Southern cooking, that place is heaven. You know you're in for a treat when the first 2 hot dishes you encounter are greens and black-eyed peas... No, not mixed together :) Thanks again to everyone... If I missed someone there who's on the list, drop me a note... I certainly didn't want to ignore or avoid anyone... I was just in martial artist heaven with all the training and things to learn... :) <> - Bert Edens, 2nd Dan Recommended Springdale, Arkansas --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 10:04:21 -0700 (PDT) From: Charles Richards To: Dojang Digest Subject: [The_Dojang] Jackson TGT event Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear list, Master Mac just about said it all, but I will add my personal insights. 1. I was very proud to brings 3 of my senior students and my long time friend Joe Clarke over to Jackson and Master West's crew of fine Southern Hospitality 2. Next year if they stay on the path I will have reached a major milestone....bringing my first mutants to the Jackson homecoming. 3. I got a real good understanding of what Master Terry means by "white out." :-) 4. I was honored to meet Manson at his master's keep. Of course I don't think I'd want to meet Manson without an invite :-) 5. As ever, Master Mac was able to create time to help me with my advanced TSD material (and of course some basics to improve :-)). For any of you that mised the secrete Bud-sai Hyung you must come to the September 26th Seminar I'm hosting with GM Hodder under the USKMAF banner. I'm sure with the right "lubrication" the originator can be convinced to share this secret lost north georgia hyung. It is always a pleasure to go to Jackson, practice with those who have truly taken the time to perfect their technique, and pass what they know to the next generation. I always enjoy practicing my art with several hundred hapkidoin who are attending this semi-annual event, see old friends and meet new ones. There are no attitudes, egos or posturing, just a largo group of hapkidoin quietly doing things correctly. Jere R. In an anonymous situation, it's far too easy for character analysis to become character assasination. I would counsel that you use your own instincts, perhaps speak directly with the people that he alleges to have granted him certifications or contact one or more of the clients listed. Now in situations like this, I often use the "would-I-let-him-date-my-daughter?" method. Your mileage may vary. Perhaps I'm speaking out of turn. If so, I will happily defer to more senior members of the list.
