I think we should be don with this string... It was a bright and sunny weekend here at my house. Must be my ki power. Actually was a pretty miserable holiday weekend. My subdivision was one of only a few that did not lose power and/or get flooded. We got dumped on for over two days straight. I should have known I would not lose power after going out and buying a 4000w generator. If it will make you feel better, I almost lost cable tv. It flickered a few times. I was out of my seat immediately on the phone to Brighthouse cable to find out what was going on. For the next storm, we are gonna head for the hills in our rv. I belive there are only theree Taikyoku kata though. Jason Ray Terry wrote: > The forms that he developed, such as the Basic forms 1-5 (Kee Cho), have > fairly evident applications. Any current or former Shotokan people here? I was thinking that TSD MDK's Kicho forms were pretty much a knock off of Karate's basic movement forms, the Taikyoku kata. I know that Hwang Kee claimed to have created them in 1947, but.?. Taikyoku = Ki Cho There are probably some better threads and longer soapboxes in the archives, but FWIW I practice all the "Koreanized" versions of Funakoshi's Shotokan, which his son most likely taught to TSD CDK founder Lee, Won Kyuk. As a TSD Player I of course add Ro (Lo) Hai. As a 4th degree working on my 5th degree material, I have only progressed to Wansu and Jion (still struggling with Jion). Often my interpretation will come off a little Japaneseish and Master Mac will nudge me in the Korean direction. Fortunately, I will learn Jion and Oh Sip Sa Bo directly from him, so they will probably end up more Koreanized and less Japaneseish. Long way of saying the root of (non Soo Bahk Do) Tang Soo Do is Shotokan kata and many would argue that root goes back to White Crane Kenpo??? Tang Soo Do and the old version of Kara-te are the same Hanja/Kanji. OK back to designing ads for another open house :-) MC --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
