Master Young Chul Chung, formerly of Kokomo, IN. once said our school is from the Moo Duk Kwan lineage. We practiced the Palagae forms and then the Japanese forms : Bassai, nahanchi, and Pinan. We later switched to the Korean black belt forms to replace the Japanese forms. What forms does the Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do Association use? Am I violating the Soo Bak Do Moo Duk Kwan "patent rights"? When I open my own school I intend to call it Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do, is there going to be a problem there also? Just wondering! I would appreciate a reply. Fred __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! That is the Do-Jang I trained in. You are right the floor is hard, but I enjoyed the experience. The papers were signed and we are happy to have them with us. I would appreciate a reply. Doubtful. The Korea TKD MDK Assoc in Seoul sells patches and pins with the standard MDK logo on them. They've been distributing them for years, no problems yet... What forms does the Moo > Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do Association use? The Korea TKD MDK Assoc reports up through the Kukkiwon, so the forms are the Kukkiwon's forms. Looks like I am not going to be able to get over your way this year. I have been busy of late with reorganizations and planning dan tests and championships, ect, and have had little time to post up until the past couple of days. Going back through some older editions, I saw your post on classes and time. I understand where you are coming from. As I said, I realize I am blessed to be in the situation I am in. The only other thing I can offer is always make time for your kids, especially while they are young. Mine are just about on their own now, and I don't regret any time I spent with them. Hope I will be able to make it over your way next year." MC Reply Master Dunn, I will light a candle for you. With moving the Dojang and expanding back to 4 full nights, plus increased workload at my day job....making time for my little ones has been hard. But worth every minute. So far we've kept our dojang open for 4 years without ever being open on Friday. That is "mama don't cook night" in our house and Sunday is our day as a family. Good thing I have a right hand to teach Monday classes for me :-) I am blessed to share every weekday morning with my son as we eat breakfast and ride to his pre-K on my way to work. Generally ends up being the best hour of any weekday :-) Yours in Jung Do, Charles Richards www.mojakwan.com --__--__-- Message: 9 Date: Sun, 12 Sep 2004 19:52:52 -0700 (PDT) From: Charles Richards To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Lineage Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I read "I am just curious and I know it will depend on what you study, but how many martial artist here in this forum can trace there linage back to Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee with no break or split. Or if you train in another style can trace your lineage back to one of the original 5 kwans with no break or split." MC Reply I'm not sure what the definition of a split is, but My first instructor was Chong "Charlie" Lee student of Rhee, Jhoon Goo, who was a student of Duk Sung Son, who was a student of Lee, Won Kyuk, the founder of CDK TSD. Sadly, I never earned a dan grade from JRI. Up to 3rd Dan my instructor was/is Weichel, J.R. who is a direct student of Shin, Jae Chul, who (acording to Kang Uk Lee's chart) was a student of Oh Se Jun, who was a direct student of Hwang Kee. I guess I don't qualify there, becuase both lines are broken. They are my roots nevertheless.... Master Dunn, In my decade in his org. I never heard Shin, Jae Chul speak of Oh Se Jun....can you confirm Kang Uk Lee's lineage chart?
