Question: I have heard of visualizing ki flow as a golden glow, so Leroy's glow being gold somehow makes sense. Is there any reference to the glow being red like Sho'Nuff's, or is this just fancy filming to emphasize the difference between good and evil? Just curious. Thanks. It is very important to know that I was/am more than a little "high" from my trip. Anthony is exactly right that it is easy to come away with a skewed view of another culture especially on such short experience. I did have a fantastic experience and heartily recommend the same experience to anyone who would ask. But read Anthonys' post as it is a fine tempering view to my euphoria. Tanks again, Anthony. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net snapped the tibia (shin bone) right in half. my first real injury ofany kind, in any sport i've ever played (i'm a 43 yr old tkd brownbelt).while gettting in my last sparring session before a tourney my schoolis sponsoring TODAY :-( , i was up against another brown belt who hadme by at least 6 inches and several dozen big macs. i beat him threedays ago in an earlier match. he was after me much harder the secondtime around (revenge? mmm...). i've replaid this in my head alot buti don't know if it hapened while trying to block a kick of his, or ifwe both wound up and threw at the same time and collided. it doesn'treally matter cause i got the worse of whatever. the students andparents and the secertary heard the pop from the other room in ourdojamg. i heard it too natuarally!!!i just got back from spending the night in the hospital. i had theoption of wearing a hip-to-ankle cast for 6 weeks, then a smaller onefor about 4 more, or having a rod put in the bone and be walkingunaided in about 2 weeks.i opted for the rod.the pain in the shin area is pretty much gone, now my knee hurts likehell 'cause that's where the incisions were made and the reaming ofthe bone started and the rod was fed in through. i get afoot-to-below-the-knee walking cast in about 7-10 days. dr said i cango back to "banging" (tkd) in 6 weeks.i'd sure like to hear from anyone who's been through something likethis in their tkd/martial arts career. naturally, my biggest hurdlewill be convincing myself to get back into the ring to spar. i'lldefinatel;y go back and do all the other training. i know i'm wrongfor thinking like this and i try not to do it, but i catch myselflooking down at students in my school who do everything but spar. i'mnot chuck norris by any means, but i think you need to be a little"battle tested" in case (god forbid) you need to use your skills inreall life. my point here is that i don't want to quit sparring.let me know your stories please and how you dealt with the down timeand getting back to doing what you were doing when the accidentoccured. if you have an "lessons learned" or tips about the wholething, let me know!!!thanks...scott --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? vote.yahoo.com - Register online to vote today! --__--__-- Message: 11 Date: Mon, 4 Oct 2004 12:44:18 -0700 (PDT) From: Christopher Spiller To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Dr. Jung Hwan Park Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Bernie, Thanks for the information regarding Dr. Park. I always find stories about training ("in the olden days") pretty interesting. I've been in Taekwon-Do for almost 19 years and have some fond memories myself :). I think I actually remember reading a story about Dr. Park in a MA magazine several years ago ("Black Belt" maybe?). The article basically talked about his time in Viet Nam and his being a POW and subsequently escaping. It mentioned his book, too. Anyone know if that has ever been translated into English? Thanks again for sharing your memories. Taekwon, Chris __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! In that fraction of a second when your foot makes contact with the target, your hips and leg should be in the same position as if you executed a side kick. If your toes are pointed up, you are probably waiting too long to lift your kicking leg, resulting in hip posture that approaches that of a front kick than a side kick when you make contact with the target. When I live in CT, my friend and I were walking in the mall. He turns towards me and asks if I ever heard of vanity the singer. I told him yes. He said, walk pass this woman and tell him if I thought it was her. So I walk past a woman who was with another woman looking at some black art. We walked by her again. I said no. I said what would vanity be doing at the Danbury mall? So we walked a few steps from where she was, and caught the attention of her lady friend.... Her friend comes over and I ask her is that vanity? Her friend says yes it is...BUT she no longer identifies with that name, her name is denise (sp?). ***Now let me just say that I am not a shy person, and I'm not star struck...BUT...when this beautiful woman (denise) came over I was at a loss for words, studdering, and my friend who looks like suge knight (big just like suge) was literally sweating! She came over and introduced herself. **I do have to say this. She stated that she turned her life over to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but to me, it seemed as if she was brainwashed. What I mean is for anything we asked her, she'd answer with thanks to the lord jesus christ....i.e., are you hungry? "yes thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ I'm hungry. But anyhow, boy oh boy...she looked so good, I wanted to lay hands on her back then...lol. I'm catching up on my emails...is there a sequel to the last dragon? Jye Jye Bert Edens wrote: Greetings!
