I have taught at many law enforcement seminars, and up until last year was the tactical defense instructor for the East Texas Police Academy in Kilgore, Texas. My reason for posting a response is that in order for your reply to be received as true you can not inflate the statistics you choose to use. The tape surviving edged weapons shows a minimum of 21ft for an officer to fire two shots center of mass. Not 25ft with a side step. I know this seems minor but it may reflect on you as a person that exaggerates thus causing people to question you on other subjects. I do not teach martial art for profit. In fact, when I do teach it is usually to help someone I know out, or because I see some kid, who simply cannot afford a commercial dojang. As far as betraying you, I don't even know you. I NEVER called the VA or filed a complaint about you. In fact, I consider you rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things, though it is obvious you do not. So Mr. Sims, how did I damage someone I never met? Because once again, I am somehow guilty of some impropriety that occurred to you via someone else... one that I was unaware of before the fact? As far as my circle of friends, you have no idea with whom I hang. Personally, I prefer people that I can learn from. No matter what insult you can hurl, I think that you will find that I will NEVER act as disgraceful as you. I will NEVER go into someone else's school and curse... particularly to one of my elders, which is not of any Confucian model, its of good old fashioned Southern respect. As far as humor, what is the APA position on people that use demeaning humor? Perhaps they problems with anger? You are so busy pointing at me, and other people, but you fail to point at the one person you should. I have never done anything to you, nor have I met you. Criticize me if you choose, but at least be honest. f. --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Surviving Edged Weapons To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Wed, 13 Oct 2004 17:32:51 -0700 (PDT) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > My reason for posting a response is that in order for your reply to be > received as true you can not inflate the statistics you choose to use. Calibre Press (calibrepress.com) produced it several years ago, but they don't sell to civilians. I think I got my copy from Mas Ayoob (www.ayoob.com) and his Police Bookshelf after taking his LFI-1 (and later LFI-2) course. But the title Surviving Edged Weapons can mislead a bit. It isn't about 'knife fighting'. It is about getting cut or stabbed and surviving, and the mindset required.
