Kicking into the air is dangerous, IMO, when learning how to perform and apply the technique. Fred __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Check out the new Yahoo! It is very kind of you to share with the list some of the data points for the major TSD orgs in operation. Sharing a little I pulled out my WTSDA student manual copyright 1983 and revised 1992 and 1993. p.16.....on November 13, 1982, the Charter Convention proclaimed him (Shin) grand master... p.17 shows a picture of Shin KJN doing flying back kick with the blackbelt and Udanja dobohk trim dated 1955, which is more in line with a dan promotion of around 1950 to 1953. I'm certain Shin's dan # is in the 600's I've just forgotten it, so it's possible Hwang KJN promoted his son to Dan Bon 509 after he issued numbers in the 600's I'd like to confirm or refute that with some hard facts. Your research of dan bons and exit dates and ranks might confirm that. But hapkido is a relatively new art........ If you compose the hapkido standards by looking at what is in the MYTBTJ........... Actually the whole idea of a martial art which should have world wide standard sounds very new to me. You are a student of a master and you follow his style, when you trained suffiently in his style he will tell you to make up your own. -- kind regards, Klaas Barends http://www.hapkido.nl/ http://www.sangmookwan.com/ --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 05:02:21 -0800 (PST) From: "Jason E. Not sure about that. But instructors will frequently get a cut if they bring N number of paying competitors to a tourny. That will vary from event to event. > Is it illegal for spectators to use camcorders/ video cameras @ competitions > like the Asian, All African and Olympic Games? Frequently, yes. Again, that will depend on the event. They usually specify up front if video cameras are permitted. Yet I see no armed forces training for these old, venerable weapons Old is not necessarily better, just older. My gut feeling, from being on the receiving end of many well placed RH kicks, is that it will be around long after most of us are dust.. dave weller On Nov 11, 2004, at 5:01 AM, the_dojang-request@martialartsresource.net wrote: > From: Bruce Sims > To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Roundhouse Kick > Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > > Dear Jeff: > > ".....Who doesn't use a Roundhouse Kick????...." > > The kick known to most of the MA world as the > "Roundhouse Kick" is a relatively new addition to MA > training for Pacific Rim countries.
