I have many friends in Houston that are in Soo Bahk Do. I thought you may know some of them. I answer this for her since she and her family are on vacation here in Jackson, MS. Kat is a Hapkido student who has her own school in Houston, but trains in Sault (Soo) Ste. My understanding is that the tapes were going to outline his entire curriculum up through 4th black. That would have been a jewel for the Hapkido community for both practical training reasons, as well as having a record for posterity. Maybe he'll take another run at it with someone else. Although we don't get the lake effect snow that Rudy and Bruce get, Fargo is so windy, the wind chill got down to around -50 before winter hit! It did warm up to about -5 during the day for Christmas, but the wind-chill was -25. So the dogs did not get taken for a walk. Daken's home town, with all the snow on the roads, made the local news here in Fargo. My home state of Texas was even on for a 10 second clip. KMA stuff: Anthony stated he practices for the art side, Michael wrote a long essay on why he favors the self defense side. I enjoy both sides of the equation. Hapkido (or any martial art for that matter), when done correctly, can be a wonderful art to see, but can also a very effective avenue for self defense. --__--__-- Message: 4 From: kevin_janisse@comcast.net To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2004 22:51:35 +0000 Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Sin Moo Training Series Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net The latest I have heard was that Dojunim Gi put out a large amount of money to have the series profesionally produced and was not entirely happy with the results and like Master Terry stated is dealing with the producer on getting what he desires for the money he has paid without further finacial burden. Don't hold your breath, some of you know how long these type of issues can last. Happy New Year to all. Master Kelso, my Tae Kwon Do instructor for the last 15 years, passed away yesterday morning. I was of the understanding he was fighting lymphatic cancer. I only know some of the details. This news was a rather shock to me yesterday. When I spoke to him last the cancer was supposedly caught fairly early and the treatments were going good for how these kind of treatments can be on a person. Terry touched many of our lives in a positive and personal way. He was a Family Man, Martial Arts Instructor, Law Enforcement & Security Professional, Military, and (for many like myself) a great friend!!! Terry, will be missed. Muju, a mountainous region in South Cholla Province, is bidding to host the Taekwondo Park, which will include construction of a gymnasium, training facilities and a taekwondo hall of fame with a 166.4-billion-won budget. Defeng of Henan Province is located near the Shaolin Temple complex, which serves as the headquarters of kung fu, a Chinese martial art. "We will make Muju and Defeng sister cities very soon," Muju county official Jeon Byung-soon said. "And I'm sure that we will win the Taekwondo Park project, too." Both sides agreed to improve friendships and foster the exchange of information, but the agreement didn't specify detailed future plans. The Taekwondo Park project is planned for completion by 2013. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will announce the winner of the bid this week after making on-site inspections on the three candidates _ Muju, Kyungju of South Kyongsang Province and Chunchon of Kangwon Province. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
