At 46 things hurt, there doesn't even have to be a reason. All the bones I've broken in the past (none due to Tae Kwon Do) come back to haunt me and I love my trips to the chiropractor. But having been very active most of my life, I can out endure even those spunky 20ish year olds, and granted in the ring their youth makes them fast, but nothing can beat the wisdom that comes with age. I feel very bad for my long time friends, they look OLD, act old, all because of a lack of exercise. My Grand Master said to me the other day that I look so young, I said, Sir it is all about exercise, regularly, push beyound what you think you can do, and have a reall fantastic goofy sense of humor and laugh alot." Last night it snowed here so I went with the dog for an hour run through the forrest....I see any time to move as an opportunity! If people thought that way the wide effect on the population would be incredible! We have a great group of 50ish year olds training and they can't beleive what martial arts has done to transform their bodies into strong, fast machines, and how much it helps their minds. I love teaching the older students. They really want to learn everything about every move, everything about the pholosophy of martial arts and practice the way of living. I plan on working towards 3rd dan and I hope some day to get to 4th dan before I am 70ish! So all of us aging older buggers remember, you can only get better because you learn how to do things. --__--__-- Message: 2 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Chung Do Kwan schools in Florida To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 14:44:45 -0800 (PST) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > I have been on the list for a while, and rarely post, but was wondering > if anyone knows of any chung do kwan schools in Florida. Gm Ed Sell's US CDK Assoc at http://www.uscdka.com is based out of Florida. They may have dojangs in your area. I started in TKD at the ripe old age of 42, now 14 years later am still kicking. I feel better now physically than I dai at 25. Mostly becasue of quitting smoking, drinking, and the combination of working out regularly. I was not able to run a mile in high school becasue of smoking, now I can do 3 miles in just over 30 minutes without killing myself. Thanks. Their "hapkido self defense" portion of class, which is required learning for advancement, always focuses on wrist manipulation techniques. There is no body movement at all, and that is what cued me in on their fraudulent claims of "knowing" hapkido. It really irritates me when these jackass instructors try to pass on their "knowledge" of hapkido and then make it a requirement for advancement. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD! That is the very reason I have switched to judo and Okinawan karate. Fred __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Read only the mail you want - Yahoo! Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I, A Hapkiyusul instructor(3 dan of hapkiyusul) with Yong Sul Kwan is a Visiting Scholar at Texas A&M University during the Spring semester (January - June 2005). Yong Sul Kwan teaches the Hapkiyusul(aikijujitsu) art taught by GM Choi Yong Sul in its unaltered form. This is a rare opportunity to to learn this art in the United States. Interested persons can go to www.hapkiyusul.com for more information about the school and art and may contact the instructor at kadosu@hanmail.net.
