Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hello all I have a question to pose. If you, say were to decide to train in an art (some of you might have to think a while back here ;-) right, and upon attending one of their 3-monthly gradings, saw that, realistically, only about 2 in every 10 black belts could actually hold up in a fight, would you train with this orginisation? I pose this question as i can see that the senior/master instructor is clearly capable of doing his job and provides excellent training, as do the 3rd/2nd dans, but i have seen that, to plainly put it, the black belts suck. Is this an indication that some of the senior instructors arent doing a proper job? or is the org. simply just another mcdojang? Some responses would be greatly appreciated. With each state having some say so the general membership felt represented. The clubs in the states were all represented if they went to work and brought in membership. Each club had the oportunitity. Maybe there was competition for each state boardmember position, but they had a family they enjoyed for many years. Now the USOC believes they have a better plan. Wrong , this is nothing but a plan which breaks down the family in which martial arts is a strong teacher of. How can people run the USTU who know nothing about martial arts or the philisophy of or care about nothing except the elete and metals. Let me tell you, there is more to family and martial arts than metals. USTU/USA TKD/USOC , you need to re-think all this..................People complained about the Grandmaster's  but now the USOC is no better.   --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Sat, 8 Jan 2005 05:36:56 -0800 (PST) From: Bruce Sims To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Hapkido-- the Comprehensive Art Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Alain: ".... It seems that these people do not realize the fact that Hapkido is a complete martial art, and not something you just “add” onto another style....." Thanks for putting these thoughts out there yet once again. In the face of many messages to the contrary, I don't think this view can be stated too many times. The Hapkido arts are rife with much politics and divisions, but I don't think this can be allowed to over-shadow many of the common techniques, principles, and personalities shared. For my part I wish that this view would get more play than "this is the genuine art, and others are less" message. Until that develops, though, I appreciate anyone who will get out there and remind folks that Hapkido is not just a collection of whatever they want to whip together. Thanks again.
