Here are some questions that come to mind. a.) If I point at someone or something and identify it with a label that is one thing. If I point at myself and identify my self as the same thing, I would use a different word, yes? For instance I might call myself an attacker but someone else would call me--- what-- a mugger?, a thug? b.) If I identify myself as someone who is attacking do I necessarily use that term? Am I the aggressor, the active partner? In this case its a little like giving orders in class, yes? I can say "ahp chagi" which identifies a particular kick. If I shout it out it becomes not just the name of a kick but a command to execute that kick, right? On the other hand some people will reserve "ahp chagi" to identify only the technique and use a variety to Korean terms to state "front leg" or "back stance" as part of the command. Any comments would be welcome. It can heavily influenece a certain mood. You ever find yourself "setting the mood" with soft music? Or find yourself driving fast with a fast tempo song? In my opinion music is like uncut emotional drugs. I say that because your emotions along with moods can be altered relatively quickly with music alone. I've heard writers say that they write scripts to certain music to inspire the scene. Music was the african slaves source of extra strength, music is one form of brainwashing tools used by many organizations, music sets up a scene in a movie that with the music scares the hell out of us and without the music turned up, we'd be like...'oooooooooookaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy', so we can see the power of music in many things. In training it gives us that extra umph to squeeze out some good reps or whatever. But if you don't agree with all that...just think, on kung fu movies when the good guy is getting beaten up and is about to lose, he kicks some major a$$ when music comes on...lol Jye Jye Klaas barends wrote: A lot of music that passes by on the list is quite aggresive. is there a special reason for it??? I am hoping you can expound further from your last post. "We would use every means available to achieve success in surviving, and we would not likely grapple with a grappler or box with a boxer etc." I am in complete agreement with you but I guess if one were on the street and had an altercation, how would you determine if they were one or the other (or a kicker, etc) until you were in such close range to either be boxed/KOed or see them shoot to the legs? I imagine that the "finding out process" is proceeded by the "sizing someone up process" and this is where the experience comes in? I am curious as to hear from someone with your experience in the arts how you size up a stranger on the street or is it just a simple process of letting them make the first move? Thank you in advance for your reply.
