Instead it shows who can work their knowledge and skills better. Suppose I'm a boxer and I spar with boxers, grapplers, kickers, etc and become proficient at defeating my sparring partners, then that is because I have learned to use my knowledge of what their style entails, and my skills to overcome their weapons of a$$ destruction. So when I square off with someone who is proficient in using their skills, it now becomes a question of who can do it better, or who makes the first mistake....kind of like shooting pool. Two excellent competitors square off and shoot pool, their skills are not in question it soon becomes a question of who makes the first mistake and if the other can capitalize on the error. > > Jye > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! "ok, y'all aint gonna wanna try this-ee here now without um some kinder proh-tek-shun on yuh". granted, i'm from missouri and can twang and "y'all" with the best of 'em. i'm just saying this guy was scary :) also, you might want to make sure you have the standard disclaimers about consulting your physician, or not trying without instructor's supervision, etc, in order to CYA. hope that helps, mel Chajonshim Martial Arts Academy _www.cjmaa.com_ (http://www.cjmaa.com/) 1.573.673.2769 Chajonshim Martial Arts Supply _www.cjmas.com_ (http://www.cjmas.com/) 1.877.847.4072 --__--__-- Message: 6 From: Ray To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net (The_Dojang) Date: Thu, 17 Mar 2005 15:27:09 -0800 (PST) Subject: [The_Dojang] another Hapkido first Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Another Hapkido first... :) Hapkido Savannah Youngsters Doing Well in Martial Arts! WTOC TV With its throws, take downs and extensive joint locking techniques, the Korean martial art of Hapkido is taking hold here in Georgia. "You are using someone's aggressive force and you use it against them, redirecting there power," says Master Instructor Mike Byrd. "So someone that has a good understanding of the technique, a 130 pound person being able to defend against a 250 to 300 pound person." Similar to Tae Kwon Do, Master Mike Byrd has been teaching this ancient art for the past 10 years to students of all ages, with remarkable results, "I have had kids come in here with physical difficulties and unable to do certain things," says Byrd. "Over a period of time they are able to do stuff they have never dreamed imaginable." Two of his students have already made there mark. Allan Wiggins was the 1st Chatham County public school student to be recognized with a school letter for the Martial arts. "He is a phenomenal athlete," says Byrd. "He has competed nationally winning medals all over." When ask is he felt like a trailblazer Allen Said, "It's an honor, you see football guys with their letter jackets and its great see someone finally get credit for one in the martial arts." While Allen was breaking down local barriers one of his training partners was busy abroad. Last year Kaleb Scroggins traveled to Korea and became the 1st American to take home a gold medal at the Hapkido championship. "We trained 6 days a week, each week for an hour and a half," remembered Scroggins. "We went over stuff every day trying to make things perfect." Needless to say it's a little harder than learning a pick and role or a screen? "Most definitely," smiles Scroggins. --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Thu, 17 Mar 2005 18:10:17 -0800 (PST) From: Jye nigma Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: making an instructional dvd To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I think with the success of technological advances, there are people attempting to live out their dreams that may not have been possible some years ago. One thing is that you can actually produce good broadcast quality instructional videos with the tightest of budgets. BUT!!!! one should also have basic knowledge of certain things pertaining to PCs, video, film, etc Honestly, with just a handful of knowledge you can make a pretty good video. Now my advice to people who want a great tape is to find some college students studying broadcasting and see if they'd like to maybe make a little money or work something out maybe barter..yeah that's right barter, you get a free video and they get to use you as a reference. Now if you go that route, make sure you plan out what you're going to say and SCRIPT IT OUT!!! yep!!! figure out what you're going to say and make a script. Why? because if you need to do voice overs you wont have a problem remember what you said because it'll be right in front of you. Jye --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
