It is a private organization out of California if memory serves me right. Master Timmerman is a member so he would have more information. The Daehan Kidowhe is is Seoul and is run by Master Kim Jong Sung, we in the USKMAF are affiliated with this one as Master West was the first American chodan and a current Kidowhe 8th dan. Dr, Kimm is a 9th dan with the Daehan Kidowhe. They are two different organizations. The Daehan Kidowhe was, and is, the very first hapkido oganization, whose first president was Choi Young Sul. On Music Started out in Texas blues in the 70's, as I went to the same HS as ZZTOP. My cousin is the keyboardist for a band called whitesnake, my mother was a concert pianist and clarinetist (I have her first one in my recording studio), My Dad played the violin (I will inherit that this summer). I played blues (Texas and Delta) and souther rock through HS and college. About 15 years ago I starting building my 62 track analog/digital studio with a the main instruments as flutes and guitar synthesizers along with a stable of 12 and 6 string guitars. Many of the other instruments include midi controllers (keyboards) and a baby grand piano. I current perform ambient and space genre. Using cakewalk for sequencing. The short story... Jere R. Oh please........ Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hi Dana! That is nothing. When we first moved to Cincinnati, just outside the state line on the river, there was a dojang that said "taekwondo, hapkido, judo" in big letters out front. I was told by the owner "hapkido and judo are for advertising only, I am one of Ed Sell's taekwondo 3rd dan and that is all I know." A few years later he was arrested due to a gambling problem on the Ohio river casinos and the dojang went a away. --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Thu, 07 Apr 2005 00:20:49 -0500 From: "Edward Peters, III" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Dae Han KidoHwe Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net All this time I thought the glow in the dark certificates were cool. Last night when I checked the claim had been removed from his web site and replaced with his rank awarded by GM Seo. He sure does move fast when caught in a lie. I started my training 3 1/2 years ago at age 48 and this stuff literally changed my life. (Reading this board has also helped immensely). But I've been finding that each year, everything hurts more. Without going into details, I've taken off for the last 3 months and I'm not sure my back and knees are going to allow me to participate in classes any more. Do any of you have any advice? I'm thinking maybe some private lessons, or maybe there is some kind of art that is less hard on the joints. Also...I'm very happy to hear that there are other musicians on the list. I'm a guitar player. The way to fully "appreciate" an S-arm, is to trash your wrists by playing 8 gigs a week, then go to a class where they are working on S-arms!! I have since found out that I cannot move into the shopping center and open up in the unit next to the other TKD school without the owner of this other school giving his blessing - according to the property manager. As for buying the building I'm in right now - I've approached the owner about this previously and apparently she has some sort of personal plan where she wants to retain ownership for 2 more years. With this in mind, I am reluctant to venture into a longer lease at the current price in an attempt to offset any potential rent hikes over the next handful of years. As for my wife, she said she will support almost anything that I decide, as long as it is reasonable, since this is my dream and years ago I supported her while she was pursuing her dream. Once again, thanks to everyone for their input. What org are you affiliated with and who is your instructor? I don't think you are going to find a tremendous amount of consistency on where to Kiah on dan forms. I have seen several variations on most of the forms you listed. In fact, my KJN changed Kiah points for us in some of the forms when he published his book, from where I had been doing them. But here is where I have seen them done. Rohai--fairly consistent 2 kiahs--on the downward punch and on the spinning jump Kong Sang Koon--on the first spearhand in both double spearhand sets, on the jumping side defense, on the second (left) jumping side defense from ke mah, and occasionally on the last jump kick. Jindo--on the choi ha dan X block, on the right punch from chun kul after the first han bahl combo, the final punch, the round elbow strike, and the first or last knifehand/spearhand from han bahl. Most common I have seen are 2 of the first three, with variation being choice of the first 2. Sipsoo-- Usually the jumping double block returning 1st time down line and the high defense combination next to last count in form, with kiah longer to cover first block and turn Bassai -- usually 3, side kick, either dropping double fist or jumping punch/double punch, and last movement. Naihanchi (all three) Cho dan- Ive almost always seen 2, at both double hand moves commonly refered to as side punch/hook punch at each end of movement line, but rarely a third on very first movement. E Dan - Again, usually 2, but location varies, most commonly on the 2 round elbow strikes, but also on the last backfist/block before beginning mirror of second set and last movement. Also some add 3rd kiah for first movement. Sam dan - Usually 3. Very first movement and on each (2)twist (second punch) after low punches to front. Alternately, on last backfist/block in in first set and mirror. Hope this helps.
