California easily has the best beer in the world now with products from Bear Republic in Healdsburg, Stone Brewing in San Diego, Sierra Nevada in Chico, and Anderson Valley Brewing in Anderson Valley (to name just a few). So there. I think Sam Adams Beer from Boston has them beat and you didn't mention Long Trail Beer from Vermont. With their Hibernator, double bag, India Pale ale Winter ale and Pollenator they are a close second. We discussed that I'll be including some cane in next year's event. A bonus this year was getting to meet list member Mark Gajdostik. He drove over from OR to attend, and even though he was a bit tired, he let me toss him around some when I was demonstrating techniques. It was really great to meet you in person Mark, and I hope you had safe trip home. If anyone is interested in hosting a seminar, I can put you in contact with the hosts of the Boise event so you can get their opinion, since mine is a bit biased. :-) Again, great to finally meet in person Mark! Here's to a fellow Guiness lover. Glad to see I'm not the only one with an "acquired" taste! Yuengling is what I bring to share with others and is genuinely liked by the average beer drinker. Guiness I bring for ME because none of my friends like it. (can't handle it) As for the MA topic.....does anyone know where I can get an old fashioned REAL leather heavy bag (100 lbs)? Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Dear Danny: "....What about "sah bum"?...." Not for me, Danny, though I don't have a problem using the term to be polite--- especially when one is bowing-in at a school. However, the derivation of the term comes a little too close to the concept of "instructor" as in the concept of a "coach" or "lecturer". I don't view the MA as a Phys Ed experience or I would probably go along with it. As it is I view the person running the class as a teacher, the person running the kwan as a "director" and everybody from 10th guep to 10th Dan as "students". :-) Best Wishes, Bruce --__--__-- Message: 12 From: "Kip McCormick" To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: RE: [The_Dojang] Beer and Bags or Bags of Beer Date: Tue, 12 Apr 2005 12:10:04 -0700 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Well, Timo weighs about 165... kip >From: "Woodard Brian (ChW/TEF8)" > >As for the MA topic.....does anyone know where I can get an old >fashioned REAL leather heavy bag (100 lbs)? > >Cheers, > >Brian Woodard > > >-----Original Message----- >From: tim walker [mailto:timdnml@adelphia.net] >Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2005 12:20 PM >To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net >Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Martial arts and beer > ><<--It's hard to beat Yuengling >--California...best beer in the world ...Bear Republic in Healdsburg, >Stone >Brewing in San >Diego, Sierra Nevada in Chico, and Anderson Valley >Brewing in Anderson Valley... >--Rolling Rock...>> > >...(as I put down my Guiness)...well, if you guys aren't going to drink, > >then neither am I. > >timo >"I fear no beer" > >P.S. <>...yah, you might spill your >beer! >_______________________________________________ >The_Dojang mailing list, 2000 members >The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net >Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource >Standard disclaimers apply >http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang >_______________________________________________ >The_Dojang mailing list, 2000 members >The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net >Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource >Standard disclaimers apply >http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang --__--__-- Message: 13 From: "JR Hilland" To: Date: Tue, 12 Apr 2005 14:28:15 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: rank, title, art... Choue defeated challenger Jun Jae Park 122-10 at a general assembly on the eve of taekwondo's world championships. Choue has been interim president since last June. Park had been acting president until then. Choue's campaign was based on a package of reforms to clean up the WTF. The world federation approved the reforms in principle on Tuesday and are likely to formalize them later this month. "I'm under no illusion that it will be an easy task," Choue said. "But I say to you that we are committed." The election follows the resignation in 2004 of Kim Un-yong, who is currently serving a two-year prison term on embezzlement and bribery charges in South Korea. Kim was suspended from his position as vice president of the International Olympic Committee more than a year ago. He faces an IOC expulsion vote in July. The Kim controversy has raised concerns about taekwondo's status as an Olympic sport, with speculation that it could be replaced by karate or the Chinese martial art Wushu. The IOC is expected to give an idea of its intentions at the July meeting. "As long as we are continue reforming our organization and maintaining transparency, I don't think there is any chance we will be taken out of the Olympic sports," Choue told The Associated Press. Choue said the reforms dealt with 16 points, from competition methods and marketing proposals, to anti-doping measures and administrative transparency. Two members of the WTF federation had filed an injunction in Seoul last month in a bid to disqualify Choue from the election. It contended that Choue was not an elected member of the Korean Taekwondo Association executive council and should not be allowed to run. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
