At that time Alexa was a green belt. What made Alexa special is the fact that Alexa studies Taekwondo and actually competes at local events in spite of the fact that she has progeria. This little girl struck the hearts of so many people. Obviously small for her age, and more fragile than all of her peers, she still has the heart of a champion. Who could forget the photos of Alexa with the 2000 Olympic Team that year - wearing Steven Lopez's Olympic Gold medal. This last December, 11-year-old Alexa was awarded her Black Belt. Congratulations Alexa! --__--__-- Message: 2 From: Ray To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net (The_Dojang) Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 08:36:59 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [The_Dojang] WTF backs MTA Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Taekwondo: World body give MTA backing By Rizal Hashim The Malay Mail In a letter addressed to OCM president, Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar, dated April 27, WTF secretary general Dong Hoo Moon has given the body's full backing to MTA who are in danger of being deregistered or suspended for not complying with the Sports Commissioner's directives to accept clubs into the structure. Hoo Moon also cited provisions in the WTF rules and regulations which grant MTA the authority in technical matters of taekwondo (WTF) in Malaysia, especially with regards to WTF-promoted or sanctioned championships, including the Olympic Games. "I am profoundly disturbed by recent allegations from certain sections of the community with regard to the validity and integrity of the MTA, resulting in a showcause letter to the MTA (WTF) by the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia. "I would like to confirm herewith the governing body of the sport of taekwondo, the WTF officially recognised MTA headed by Ho Kham Paw, as the sole taekwondo governing body in Malaysia and is one of the 179 member national associations of the WTF. "Pursuant to Article 4.3 of the WTF rules and regulations, WTF shall approve only one association of each nation or each self governing territory on the condition that their NOC, having recognition from IOC, has recognised the association." --__--__-- Message: 3 From: "Bob Banham" To: Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 17:26:17 +0100 Subject: [The_Dojang] N. Korea Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Re. deserted streets and US flag. The streets are deserted because that's the way North Korea is. They have no money for fuel so there are very few cars and everybody walks. Or it could have been a Sunday when it's forbidden to drive anyway. That's not so unusual. When we have had an oil crisis here in UK driving has been restricted. You seem to forget that America has the cheapest oil prices in the world. Here we pay around 7 dollars a gallon! God knows what they have to pay there. The picture with the US flag is actually one taken in China! However, I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been in N. Korea, after all they did have American guests! Don't believe everything you hear about N. Korea from your politicians. They are just people like you and me who have been brainwashed by a megalomaniac. I have just sent Nikki's diary to Dr. Kimm. Once he has looked at it I will post it on the website. Ummm, the price of light sweet crude oil is pretty much the same. The price you pay for gasoline at the pump is much higher because your government decided to put a huge tax on it and on its citizens. But I doubt the NK gov taxes gasoline, since no one can affort a buy a car. That is communism for you...
