My school which is located in the Kilkenny Comunity center My Instruction is from Master Mike Jaques of Mcbride BC who teaches Sin Moo Hapkido. I have kind of lost comtact with him in the last few years but I still train. My ranking is 1st dan so I am not alowed to grade anybody through the Sin Moo system. I have not yet affilliated myself with any system or association...I just don't have the time/money to spend a couple of weeks with a Master from the US to have them look at my techniques and judge them. Come and look at the techniques for yourself and draw your own conclusion. Another school is Master Grawi located just south of the west ed mall I am not sure of the exact address. He claims to be the highest ranking hapkido instructor for his association in Canada???(can't remember what association it was) He also claims to have very high ranking in ITF Taekwondo,Diato ryu aki jujitsu, Dan 7-9?? I watched a quarter of 1 class and only saw his students do techniques. He himself did not get on the mat so I cannot give a good estimate. I brought my Dobok but did not get invited onto the mat. The last School is located south of Whyte Ave in a native center, again I don't know the name of the school, but the instructor is named Carlos I am not sure of his ranking and when asked he did not know of GM Choi or Doju Ji,Han Jae. His techniques looked more like large circles of Akido and told me you need to do all these techniques with lightning speed and his kicks were all high like taekwondo. I did get invited onto the mat and was given personal instruction from Carlos and I was not impressed with what was being demonstrated to me. There was no pain, he kept telling me to lighten up and if he did this with speed it would be devastating. This is all I have found in the past 5 yrs since I left B.C., so last year I started my oun club. I know my instructor Master Jaques would not approve of me opening a club but I need to keep training, but that is politics I don't want to get into it. If you would like to check out my small club e-mail me trbod@telusplanet.net Tracy Bodnarchuk 1st Dan and holding..... >Does anyone on the DD know of a good Hapkido instructor in the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada area? He has lost a lot of weight and should be commended for that. Its not an easy thing to do. I sincerely wish him the best in wrestling and hope that he stays the heck out of martial arts. At least in wrestling (wrastlin') one knows that it is not real. USA Taekwondo is looking for referees to assist with the Junior Olympics June 21-25. We recognize that our referees are important and need to be rewarded for their incredible efforts. We are making it as easy as possible for all ATHLETES, INSTRUCTORS, and ASSISTANT INSTRUCTORS to share in these rewards and help offset the costs of being in San Antonio for the Junior Olympics. We have developed a Referee Seminar that encompasses more hands on electronic scoring training to ensure that you are ready to push the buttons when the kicks start going. Take the seminar, work the Junior Olympics as a Referee and the seminar is free. Referees do need to be 16 years or older and a black belt. You will also be rewarded with the following: FREE Hotel Room if you can work 4 or 5 days. (Unfortunately we cannot provide housing for less than 4 days. Work 5 days and get a hotel room for 6 nights.) A free hotel room with another Referee roommate. Athletes consider the privacy, a room without 10 other teammates. FREE Food the days you work. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all provided by USAT. Meals have really improved over the last few years. FREE Uniform shirts. USAT will be providing free polo shirts so you do not have to go out and buy a suit for this event. On June 24, the 14-17 year-old black belt day, the uniform is black suit, white shirt and red tie. PAYMENT. Yes that's right. Not only do you receive all of the above items for FREE but we will pay you each day you work. How much paid each day depends on the number of competitors and the number of referees working; however, $50 has been the bottom daily average and should be more. Work all 5 days and you should make in excess of $250.00. We eliminated nearly every cost associated with being a Referee at the Junior Olympics. We are also working with our Interim Referee Chair to ensure that all referees have a positive and rewarding experience at this and all future USAT events. Junior Olympics is a great opportunity to interact with other instructors and competitors. Help us make it a positive experience for all. USAT will continue to make refereeing at our events as rewarding as possible. --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: 14 May 2005 14:58:45 -0000 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net From: "Master Lugo" Subject: [The_Dojang] Chubby GM wannabe Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net That’s poetic justice, it makes a lot sense that the only place that will receive him is the make believe world of wrestling since all his past martial arts dealing were fantasies.
