Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com" Just out of curiosoty, Ray, hich styles of Hapkido and Taekwon-Do are you comparing here? I've trained in both Chang Hun (ITF) and Kukki (WTF) Taekwon-Do and your statement could certainly be true for *one* of those styles, but for the other I'm not too sure. Especially when one is put into a position of trust. I myself have been a Taekwon-do Instructor and a cub scout/Webelos Cub Master and enjoyed working with the children teaching them things that hopefully will make them better adults in our society. This kind of behavior is not tolerated. So many sick individuals out there but, A TAEKWON-DO INSTRUCTOR!!! come on give me a break....I'd like to drop kick him myself. My two cents.... I have learned several kicks in Hapkido which I was not taught in TKD,kicks below the waist to the shins, knees and groin.I have not seen some of the kicks which I have been taught in Tae Kwon Do in my Hapkido classes.Specifically, spin crescent kicks,360 degree side kicks,360 degree round kicks, butterfly kicks(a combination, outside crescent/jump inside crescent) and the jumping kicks(front ,side ,round, crescent, spin heel).I know these are flashy kicks, without a lot of practical value in a street defense situation, but I was curious if you have seen any of these in your Hapkido training. I was just wondering, being the novice that I am in Hapkido, if these kicks are not used in Hapkido in general or just not taught in the Hapkido school I am a member of? Sincerely, Gregg _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? Sin Moo Hapkido with most any version of TKD. e.g. there are 25 basic kicks in Sin Moo Hapkido. A change in the target area (low/middle/high) does not mean a different kick, just a different target for the kick. After the 25 basic kicks you get into the jumping, spinning, springing off the walls (yes!), etc etc kicks. So, not sure how this compares with ITF TKD, my CD-rom and ITF books are at home. How does that compare in your mind? I was wrong once before, so... Is this correct? I don't know if I've ever seen the dates for these forms published in a reliable journal, but the dates given above are in line with what I seem to recall reading. FWTW.
