George, you are exactly right - the issue is the crotch hanging too low - it acts like a shackle! I think the problem is that when they scale up the uniform to the bigger sizes (6 and up) they assume you've got 4-foot-long legs. Based on everyone's recommendations I will try a Pro-Force uniform to start with and see how it goes from there. If the question were to come up, I would say they would be bowing to the American flag and that the Korean flag just happened to be next to it. One master, though, tried introducing the kneeling bow into class, and it became a problem for one of our students. He was a Christian Fundamentalist who said that it was agin his religion to bow to anyone but The Savior. Of course, this guy was learning HKD because he was going into a Muslim country to (illegally) spread Christianity, and since Christians were executed in this country (Burma), he felt justified in bare-handed killing in the name of The Cause. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I was at a near-by school yesterday, to get a couple of belts that didn't make my regular order. The gentleman that owns it has a large school and has a good supply of excess inventory. As we talked he asked a lot of innocuous questions but also provided information about his school. He has 107 (this is not a miss print) students testing for 1st Dan this weekend.......I find this incredible!!!! I have been teaching full time since 1984 and I haven't had that may people ready to test to Dan level in the entire time I have been teaching. Am I just slow, or is the BIG McDojang just here in Houston? Rich --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2005 14:34:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Patrick Williams Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] hmmmmmm..... To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I've been teaching since 1992. I have one 4th Dan and one getting ready for chodan bo. She is 16, and will stay chodan for somewhere between 4-5 years. I refuse to promote if the skill level is not there. rich hodder wrote:I was at a near-by school yesterday, to get a couple of belts that didn't make my regular order. Palm to your body or palm down? Just curious. Being a former Army Reserve officer, I kind of like the idea of "Salute the flags, bow to people". Plus, that may solve my problem.
