Can't find anything that says any of Chois' immediate students taught kids. Sure, we have people NOWADAYS that state that they teach Hapkido--- but what do they really teach? Now if you want to believe Joo Bang Lee, according to him he and his brother were learning hwarangdo (aka "Um-Yang Do"?????) when he was four y/o. Don't get me started. And of course there is the matter of the Seo brothers who reportedly were introduced by their grandfather to the "family arts". Sorry, being trained by a family member doesn't count. Historically what I have found is that men of age in a village responded to corvee and trained about every 90 days during good weather. But then, their "training" could have as easily been road or bridge-building as learning how to move in formation. If children learned it was from the local teacher or from family members which has nothing to do with todays' "kicks-for-cash" schools. Those that wanted to take a shot at turning their skills into a governement position took the Civil Service exam---- no "dan rank", "master", or "supreme grandmasters" thank you very much. So, how about our kids? Well, "babysitting" or "day-care" by any other name, right? I mean, have you seen the prices of Licensed Daycare?? Sheesh! Mom and dad are getting a deal dropping the kids at school and having the local MA school keep an eye on little Johnny 'til mom and dad get home. And in case you are wondering what to do with little Johnny until Ma shows up, don't worry--- Ma will let you know exactly what you job is, what you can and can't teach, when she expects Johnny to get Chodan etc etc etc. I will admit that there is gold in them toddlers, though. I bet plenty of people take care of kids just because its lucrative. Just make sure you support the parents illusions or pre-concieved notions and remember to endorse your checks before depositing them. FWIW. Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net ".....THE Malaysian Taekwondo Association (MTA) is no longer recognised as the governing body for taekwondo in the country by the Sports Commissioner's office......" Ques: "What exactly does this mean?" When a person is kicked out of an organization I think people have a pretty good idea of what that is about. What does it mean when an entire portion of an organization is cut loose? Anyone? Has this happened before? Where do former members go? What becomes of their standings? I admit I am familiar with organizations splitting up. But what happens when a solvent organization cuts off an entire branch? Or, am I misunderstanding and what actually happended was the Malaysian government intervened? Thoughts? Not sure how many, but one was the well known KHF Master KIM Nam-jea.
