The punch in the face. Let's legalize that. However as I've stated before, in the amateur ranks, double gear. Full body gear as we have it now in WTF PLUS ITF gear. Then...wail away! Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I am a WTF 2nd dan. As I observed the ITF forms I find them far more elegant. However, if there will be a merger than one set of forms at least will become official. As I've stated, I feel we need new more contemporary forms. HOWVER, I feel for each form taught, there needs to be a mirror form. A form that provides for the strikes where one form provides the blocks. It would be a wonderful teaching tool and give meaning to the steps in forms. After all, it wasn't until about six months ago that I learned the hopping step and back fist in Taeguk 5 was designed to trap the opponents foot and allow you to advance where your feet are stationary. Isn't it a good thing to let students know what the forms mean? More hand techniques. Punches to the face, takedowns, sweeps, etc. Not saying let's make it the UFC but shoot it is a martial art, people need to start making changes so that it can really been seen as a martial art.
