Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I will be in Herndon, VA for the next several weeks. I am looking for a place to practice and work out. It can be ITF or WTF. I also had a BB in Aikido many many years ago but have not practiced it for a long time so I am also open to Hapkido or Aikido too. I drove around and see a few places but don't know if they are any good. Any help will be appreciated. I truly see a lot of you brothers are truly in the dark when it comes to training these fancy name palms. LOL Ok I be nice and give you a basic idea of the proper training method. Because god knows I am tried of brothers being in the dark. For starts before you start this kind of palm training one must first learn a Few Qi Gong moving sets. One set I was taught is a very simple set called parting the heavens, this Qi-Gong will teach one how to concentrate their energy from the lower tan tien to the palms in a natural way. This set can be find in all most all internal systems BaGua, Tai chi, Hsing Yi, The parting the heavens Qi-Gong is practice to warm up and stretch the spine, ribs, and develop energy in the palms. Here a short clip of the Yin BaGuaZhang Qi –Gong method I was taught. You practice this method to develop the Qi in the palms for development of powerful strikes in a more internal way of power development. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Nov-BaGua-palm-Qi-Gong After you learned a few Qi-Gongs then you go right to hitting the bag. I know that’s how I was taught. Here another clip I will share of a BaGua Qi-gong that is practice for developing the penetration energy in both palms. This Qi-Gong is done with an dropping body action and pumping action of the palms to increase the energy in the palms, as well power of technique. Yin style Qi-Gongs in the system I study not only improves ones heath but also improves one martial skill at the same time. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Nov-Qi-Gong--palm-training&width=320 Anyway whoever you learn the vibrating palm from, make sure they teach you the proper body mechanics, because your body must be in the proper posture when the palm strike is delivered. If not you are going to do your mind and body more harm then good. Also you must apply the proper palm liniments or medicines for your hands for this kind of training to help prevent bruising of your hands until they get used to the pounding. You want to utilize Chi, Qi, or whatever you guys like to call it. You have to put in the time and practice hard to develop it. There no getting passes that! Ok I have to run I share more then enough. It’s sad that so many are learning bullshit, and think they are real baguazhang training. If all you’re your is only teaching you how to just walk one circle walking and a few palms, then in my opinion you need to find a real skilled teacher that knows the real shit. Believe me it’s more to Baguazhang, then cats running their mouth talking the Yi-Ching theory and doing a few palms. This shit is hard work, and few cats can up in the time or have the will or mindset to do the proper training! I put in the time and hard work in this art is one reason why I invite other martial arts to crosshands. I am all about the realness of the arts, yet i notice many are all about the realness of running their mouth about their art not for real about using their hands when ask to show and prove! To know your enemy, you have to know yourself, so the question to you allis hiow well do you know your self? I’m out. Again I share more then enough, more then what these unskilled fools will give you. But no matter I know i open up a few eyes up to the light of realness! This was indeed right after the TKD Times article. Both the brothers were here and opened a school for a while. One of my friends wound up in there and the guy told him that he could be trained to be an Olympic TKD person if he wanted and that he could make it to the Olympics. (He had NEVER trained before). >From what he said, they started teaching Sul Sa Do to the over BB individuals, it was pretty much a "secret" until then. They're school burned out and I'm not sure where they went after that. However, I am quite proud that I was that close to Royalty. I'm not sure whatever happened to them. They competed in many open and WTF tournaments and did ok. The students seemed a 'bit' too serious and elitist. I remember looking at the school and on the outside of the window was the name: Tae Lee's Superkarate Ninjitsu-dan blackbelt academy. He and his brother as I recall were on the cover of TKD Times? around the same time. -- Mark Gajdostik TNT-Martial Arts 503-887-9351 --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
