There are MANY Christians in Korea, yet 50% of the population claim nothing. That gives about 45 million folks to work with right there. Secondly, Asia Reach Ministries is to reach ASIA, Korea is a good base. Our ministry will, without going into detail, extend into communist areas of the world, areas one cannot live in. Again, I asked for some advise on living in country, but as usual, have to defend the motive for even asking. Why I bothered, I don't even know. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! He is the first person promoted to the rank by Grandmaster KS Hwang, his instructor for 30 years. The test was well attended by current and past students. He performed several patterns with incredible power and good technique. He did a number of lightning fast self defense techniques. (Hats off to Matt Hunter for surviving as his victim) But his board breaking was the most impressive. He did a one board (10x12) speed finger tip break, four board speed inner knife hand strike (as always no spacers), a jump spin reverse crescent kick with the board above head height, a four board checking kick and a three board reverse knife hand strike. Not bad for a 43 year old. As much as it's a mndset that though I won't become a "killa" in Combat Hapkido in 6 months, I do think I will learn enough to begin being able to defend myself.. I am becoming confident now, and isn't that part of the goal? I am intending to use my muscle as the technique to make it work, and the 'mastery' of precise angles, leverages, and pressure points - I hope to learn them all. I don't plan to become a master overnight, but in time...in good time. Pulled my stint in Vietnam, fought near the DMZ and carried at least 750 rounds of M-16 ammo back then as well as radio..Betwwen the tanks/artillary and sniper bullets, I've really had enough of guns... I was a target then and am still one now. Though I'm not here for a gunfight.. I'm here as a touristlike pedistrian type life now, enjoying life as I know the cost of freedom. I'm just wanting to take a course in Self defense, not become another Bruce lee, though that would be excellent....... A Clark Kent sort of guy, I suppose.. Anyway thanks for comments. Gunsite Academy is outside Paulden AZ, not 'Gunsite, AZ as I wrote - would also recommend a Milt Sparks 'Summer Special' holster to carry that pistol. pil seung, --__--__-- Message: 5 From: Dragons81@aol.com Date: Sat, 13 Aug 2005 12:10:44 EDT To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: Martial Arts Humor Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Another one you guys forgot to post.... Many still mounted on the wheels. I also have plenty of 12 - 16 LB sledge hammers (the 8 - 10 lbers are for grade-schoolers :). Any Dojang member who comes to my place can spend as much time as they like breaking down those tires down - FREE!!! dave "feeling the Stovall spirit" weller PS. On a more serious note, since you already have the sledge hammer, try this exercise (GREAT for the wrists and forearms): Grab the hammer at the very end of the handle with one hand, thumb towards the the head. Pick the hammer up with one hand, holding the head end straight up in the air. Now, slowly bend your wrist towards your body so the head of the hammer moves towards your nose. When the head touches your nose (hopefully very slowly), move the head away from the nose, back to vertical by bending the wrist the other way. BE CAREFUL, this is not an easy thing to do and can really hurt your nose if you make a mistake. But, there is also MUCH incentive not to go too fast when you see the head of the sledge moving at your nose! You will have the grip of a person twice your size, and if you boo- boo, a nose like a boxer. Both are intimidating! They started seperate and IMHO that is the way it should be. The problem started when religion used martial arts/warfare to push their religious views. The urge that makes one want to convert another is either the desire to share something good, if it truely is good it will be recieved if the person is self absorbed, or the desire to decieve to fill one's agenda. Relating Religion to Martial Arts (not ethics like be nice, virtue, self control, ect.) takes quite an imagination. It is like comparing war to "Do no commit murder". If I had to take a stab at comparisions I would put Christianity in the most difficult to compare because it is "Others oriented" while all other religions are "Self oriented".
