Were I not a collector of MA books and videos I would sell mine. Either of Dr. Kimm's HKD books are superior. Ray > I'm gonna stop by the book store to see if this is the same book. I can disagree, even with the more experience members. I personally feel that the standardization in KSW is extremely helpful in the initial learning and later teaching the initial learning process. The technique/number is the same wether you are in Texas , Indiana, UK, Middle East..... After time you get better at each and learn to adjust them for individual weaknesses, sex, height, weight, handicaps, but they are still the basic technique learned, just improved upon. I once was working out with a couple of Hapkido buddies who went to different dojangs. Although all three of us knew the techniques, they both had different names for them? From the same city at that. Never could figure that out... just my opinion, michael whalen KSWnut >Good point. My teacher just calls it a good kihap :-) A few weeks ago some people stayed in our gym for four weeks. Morning sessions were nothing but falling. So my teacher was throwing this guy around the mat for a couple of minutes. Before he could get up on his feet, he would by lying on the mat already. So one time while he is trying to get up, my teacher just steps a bit forward, gives a kihap. The guy being thrown fell down. :-) Nothing mystical though. -- kind regards, Klaas Barends http://www.hapkido.nl/ Dutch HKD Federation http://www.sangmookwan.com/ SangMooKwan International Training Center Korea --__--__-- Message: 5 Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2005 21:22:05 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: Empty force To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Nah, empty force is like standing across the room moving your fist as if performing a strike and the guy across the room gets moved. I don't believe it. Jye Klaas Barends wrote: My teacher just calls it a good kihap :-) A few weeks ago some people stayed in our gym for four weeks. Morning sessions were nothing but falling.
