They appear quite legitimate. I'm considering purchasing a practice sword (blade not sharp) from them for forms practice, and am wondering if anybody out there has dealt with them, and if so, how you found their products and customer service. It was a great experiance for me and the students I took with me. We arrived last Wednesday via Tokyo, Japan. At Incheon Airport I rented a van and drove to Sokcho City near the Sorak National Forest. It was about a 4 hour drive. Once there we checked in to the Hanwa Resort and immediatley began training The Hotel had a gym available, which everyone used to practice. The resort is huge, so room was not an issue. The Mayor of the city and the national head of terrorism for Korea was there, as was many other guest. Dan number 11 was there all week as well. We practiced many, many hours. We then gave a goodwill demonstration for HC Hwang Kwan Jang Nim and the guest in attendance. Eighteen countries were represented by both students and Sa Bom level instructors. France, Italy, Isreal, India, Hong Kong, England, Mexico, Australia, Malaysia, Switserland, Uraguay, Irac, Argintina, Belgium, Philli[ines, the US and Korea. (I know I mispelled some of these and there is a couple I can not recall off the top of my head) Following the demonstration there was a formal banquet. Kwan Jang Nim was given gifts of appreciation, and we were treated to food, dancing, and traditional Korean entertainment. After the Banquet some headed back home, some went on a guided tour of JeJu Island, but most headed back to Seoul. I made the drive in about 4 hours back to check in at the Kaya Hotel in Nam Yeong near the Central Do-Jang. I returned the van to the airport and used the subway while in Seoul. The next day my wife and I along with some students and other instuctors made our way around the Nam Dae Mun area, as well as some of the Palaces. The first training with Kwan Jang Nim was at 7:00pm at Central Do-Jang. Ray is right about it being tight. Central Do-Jang is a humble do-jang and is very small. Kwan Jang Nim had groups stand and demonstate basics, and made comments about having the correct technique will help to standardize the Moo Duk Kwan. Central Do-Jang is always open 24/7. I took my students back the next morning after some Duncan Donuts (Hey Its American). We trained hard for about and hour. I taught my students and one Korean Cho Dan that happened to show up at the same time. We later got a chance to see Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee's burial sight and Mrs. Hwang Kee's sight. About 45 minutes by bus. HC Hwang Kwang Jang Nim shared stories of the early years in the Moo Duk Kwan. On the Last day I went to Sang Moo Sa to get a belt, and and see the Kukkiwon. They are very close to each other. I saw for sale in the Sang Moo Sa Kukkiwon Dan Certificates with blanks for the names and dates. I almost bought one, just for fun. I was shocked. We then went back to Itaewon, Nam Dae Mun, and finished the night in a Kereoke bar in InSa Dong. We stayed there all night and just left early enough to get back to the Kaya to get our bags and make the first bus back to Incheon. It was a good time. JCGet more from the Web. The 60th, and the last Ko Dan Ja testing (as a visiter) I spoak with both of them in Korea last week. Does anyone know anything about these two men. So because they are convinced they are better than you, when they spar/fight, they will not stop until they "win". And since they can't win, they just keep hitting harder, getting rougher etc ... i.e. someone will get hurt ... --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Thu, 06 Oct 2005 07:13:55 -0400 From: Tkdsid@aol.com To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] LONGEVITY IN THE MARTIAL ARTS Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net -- I AM 56 YEARS OLD AND TRAIN 3 TIMES A WEEK. I think by doing this the world would get to see other schools of TKD and not just the popular olympic style. Sounds a little best of the best-ish, but hey it's a way to show TKD in a new light. Hey a good movie to get that shows what happens when different races/cultures crash into each other is a movie called Crash. I love how they did the movie, it's so true to life unfortunately and fortunately. The unfortunate part is that this is how people really think and act towards others, the fortunate part is, it's so real that maybe it will motivate people who act like that to change their ways.
