However, I must compete in a tournament by that time. This will be my second tournament and I am VERY nervous. Last time there was a seven point difference in the score. (I lost because of the automatic seven point Gap rule.) Let's just say I never would want to feel embarrassed like that again. However, I have been training harder at being aggressive in the ring and I think have conquered the fear of hitting the other competitor, and them hitting me. I wanted to know, If any of you guys would have any tips on sparring for beginners who want a leg up in the competition, I don't mean cheating or buying out judges, but things that you could train on outside the ring to better your sparring in the ring. Any suggestions? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Share a single photo or an entire slide show right inside your e-mail with MSN Premium: Join now and get the first two months FREE* --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Tue, 6 Dec 2005 09:34:57 -0500 From: Brady Maxwell To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Smart Sparring Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I see a lot of people sparring with one or two attacks. especially those that are in the 10th 9th and 8th gup ranks even higher ranks. People have a favorite attack. I really like Ax kick ( i have used it to good effect in real life) round house and hand strikes. I hate turning kicks and anything that involves advanced mobility of the hips something fat lazy americans like myself loose in their mid 20s. Any way combinations are the way to go but dont be predictable. If you always follow your round house with a turning back kick it will be easy for your opponet to score because they know whats coming. I would suggest mixing the people that you spar with. go to different clubs perhaps to measure your standard against theirs. be open to critique never feel like you have to compete. my strength is stamina. so I would naturally push that. it is one of those things that you can improve. you cant always make yourself bigger, or faster but with stamina you may be able to wear them down :-) -----Original Message----- From: Amcreva Drogovah [mailto:amcrevalives@hotmail.com] Sent: 06 December 2005 11:59 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Smart Sparring Hello Everyone!  As you may know, I'm a yellow belt and I'm only just beginning Taekwondo, I may be testing in about two weeks for my green stripe. They make great dresser knick-knacks. What I do is take the broken board and put the pieces together so the bigger half is behind the smaller half and put a gold screw on each end to hold them together. The 2 halfs screwed together forms a base that easily stands on the dresser or ... Then with permanent marker date it, what kick, and what event.
