Keep in mind that this is the same fellow that hosted one seminar at his dojang with Grandmaster Ji and after that seminar made the false claim (i.e. he lied) that Gm Ji had named him, Chris Garland, as the heir apparent to Sin Moo Hapkido. Or as Gm Ji so eloquently later stated, "Balognie!". For those that don't know this the master level testing for 4th Dan and above ranks, and for Sa Bom Certification. The test is 8 days long and last from before day light until ussually about 3 am everyday of the test. I have tested in two of these testings and visited two additional Ko Dan Ja's These testings are extreme and test the candidate in every area. I speak from experiance when I say no candidate will leave feeling untested, and pass or fail the candidate will have learned many lessons. They will leave exhausted, bleeding, sore, and mentally drained. The test is about learning, growing, and building a stronger character, not money or rank. The test begins January 13th and will be run by HC Hwang Kwan Jang Nim JC Luck is wear skill and oppertunity meet --__--__-- Message: 4 To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net From: Rudy Timmerman Date: Mon, 2 Jan 2006 21:12:57 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] Watchdog Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Bruce writes: > > I'm sorry for how this is going to sound but I confess that I > have gotten just a little weary of these sorts of responses. Hello Bruce: As you know, I no longer post on other forums, and that is because it is simply not worth the effort to constantly battle the same old things over and over again without ANY progress. Believe it or not... there are other things to do (like training and teaching) beside trying to fix problems for people who are not interested in hearing anyone else's ideas to begin with. I watched you and several other try and get something off the ground not too long ago, and the folks screaming the loudest foul could not even get past the first hurdle of engaging in meaningful conversation without becoming rude and belligerent. Why in the world would we want to waste our time on that???? So, instead of slinging mud, I just continue to work my little corner of the mat to the best of my ability. You may get weary, and you may even call this a copout; however, I prefer to think of it being wise enough to put my efforts where they do more good. Old dudes like me just don't have the luxury of having time to waste:) Happy New Year everyone. National head coach Stephen Fernandez yesterday said the Philippine Taekwondo Association is focusing its attention on a breakthrough win in the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, but the Olympic stint will always be its priority following the team's impressive performances in the last two Olympiads in Sydney and Athens. "We are hoping to make it (among the Chosen 10)," said Fernandez, who competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics when taekwondo was a demonstration sport. Aside from taekwondo, boxing and diving are practically assured of making it to the list of 10 sports that will be heavily funded based on instructions by Philippine President Macapagal-Arroyo in a bid to produce the country's first Olympic gold medal. The composition of the 10 chosen sports, however, has yet to be discussed by the Philippine Olympic Committee, the Philippine Sports Commission and the NSAs. Fernandez said that the national pool will be formed after the Carlos Palanca Jr. Cup in February. "Mr. Hong (Sung-Chon, the Philippine Taekwondo Association vice president) is expected to draw up our plans for this year, but off hand the CPJ Cup will be among the first national tournaments we will hold," said Fernandez. Competitions up ahead for the RP jins are the Asian championships in Bangkok, the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Union in Vietnam and the Korean Open. The Philippines, he said, might skip the World Cup this year because of its new team competition format that put the country at a disadvantage due to its lack of heavyweight and middleweight bets. "The Asian Games will be our focal point this year because we still have to win our first gold there," said Fernandez of the Asiad, whose caliber measures up to that of the Olympics because of the presence of superpowers South Korea, Iran and even China. The best the country could achieve in the Asian Games were silver medals through Bobby Vargas and Jon Abratique. Monsour Del Rosario also won a bronze in the Asiad, according to Fernandez. --__--__-- Message: 6 From: Ray Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Mon, 2 Jan 2006 19:59:54 -0800 (PST) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > For those that don't know this the master level testing for 4th Dan and > above ranks, and for Sa Bom Certification. Do I understand you correctly that this goes from like 5AM or 6AM to 3AM every day, for 8 days? Is this a test that one goes thru at 4th Dan, and again at 5th Dan, and again at 6th Dan, 7th Dan, etc? "I have always been of the opinion that either you are or you aren't ready, mentally physically and spiritually." I couldn't agree more regardless of being probationary, recommended, red belt, or plain black belt (being used as recommended 1st). Our probationary black belts must compete in the black belt division also. Seems like we do a lot of similar things. If you're ever down our way, come stay with our family. We'd love to have you. We'll get a seminar together for our students. We just moved into our new facility and pretty excited about it. Thank goodness for probationary black belt exams and midterms our we'd never be able to afford it.
