Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com<< Where did you hear this, Ray? Frankly, this seems like it would be at least *possible* given the fact that the ITF-group led by Chang Ung has been pretty cozy with the WTF recently but unless this is coming from someone who is actually involved in the talks between those two groups I'd hesitate to put too much stock in it (at least at this point). The ITF under the North Korean government has been working very closely with South Korea on "merging" those two groups. Chang Ung is the IOC member for North Korea, head of the International Martial Arts Games Committee, and President (most likely) of the largest ITF group in the world. >From the ones that I have met it appears that Koreans are very nationalistic. I could see them doing this easily. After all the greatest stumbling block for merging the two largest TKD groups has been dead for several years. Just my 2 cents. Bud Williams, 46, was arrested Tuesday and is charged with having sexual contact with a child who was 13 years old at the time. The alleged victim was a female student at Self Defense America, where Williams taught tae kwon do for more than a decade. ADVERTISMENT "We've all been stunned by this," said KC Estes-Williams, the school's director. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the student was spending the night at Williams' house on Nov. 11. She planned to ride with Williams the next day to a tournament in the Twin Cities. The student slept on Williams' couch. She told police that she was awakened by Williams rubbing her breasts through her sweatshirt. She said she moved her arms, and the instructor fled from the house. She then walked to a nearby gas station and called her mother, who then called police. Officers interviewed Williams at the gas station that day, and he denied anything happened. About a week later, investigators invited Williams to talk again about the allegation. On Nov. 23, according to the affidavit, Williams eventually confessed to touching the student. He reportedly told police it was a "stupid act." The affidavit also states that after the incident, Williams drove to the tae kwon do school, where he looked at pornography on his work computer. Estes-Williams said the suspect, a third-degree black belt, will stay suspended pending the outcome of his criminal charge. She said it has been common for coaches to assist students with transportation to out-of-town events. When schedules required leaving early in the morning, students occasionally stayed at instructors' houses. "We've changed the policy of the school to not ever allow the children to sleep over," Estes-Williams said. On the night of the incident, the alleged victim was the only student at the house. Estes-Williams said a parent dropped her off around midnight. She said the school also might consider no longer providing students with transportation to events. A female instructor has been hired to take over Williams' classes, she said. A judge ordered Wednesday that Williams not have contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with children. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb 9. After these several years of working on the new forms why has it taken so long to introduce them? The palgwe and taeguek forms didn't take very long to create and introduce. I sense that they have been waiting to announce this new org with new forms with it all coming together for the first time early September in Seoul. BTW, also, new Kukkiwon dan certification forms will be released in March or April (or May?). My conspiratory nature makes me think that this too is related. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
