There are whole butt load of naturally occurring diuretics. Does this mean to be an Olympian you can only eat specially prepared foods? Or not take medicine if you get ill? Or not treat hair loss? My friend, your point is reasonable but this stuff is getting out of hand. f. --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Tue, 14 Feb 2006 18:47:30 -0800 From: Ray Terry To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Over 1000 Athletes to Descend on Dallas for the 15th Annual US Open Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net The 2006 U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and competitive events in recent years. Over 1,000 athletes from over 40 countries, including 10 National Teams, will be battling it out for a chance to be the 2006 U.S. Open Champion. I am a long-time practitioner of various Chinese and Okinawan arts (and dabbled in Balintawak, thus my membership on the Escrima Digest). I have recently begun training in Hwarangdo. The instructor is Master Tim Elliott, in Phoenix, AZ. He and his people seem to be not only very highly skilled, but also very good people. I would like to continue training in this system, and I am seeking practical advice on ways to maximize my practice. At 52, I am not a kid, anymore, and I do not delude myself that this will be as easy as learning Kenpo, in my 20's. I thank all of you, for any help you can offer. The realm of Korean martial arts is completely new to me, and I look forward to reading this digest. Ten years ago I damaged four vertebrae in my lower back. I went back to what my Master had taught me, a half Chinese Korean doctor who had trained with Shoalin monks for ten years and the book heal your own back. I designed a three day a week work out routine about 45 minutes to 75 minutes depending on time. I not only healed my back but all of a sudden was able to teach TKD and do things better at 53 than I could at 20, more flexibility, better balance less or no pain working or teaching. It changed my life and I have had great joy in sharing with people that have never been off the couch to other masters who have seen a difference in just one work out. The basic work out starts with 5 minutes of Chi Gong breathing and movements, then 5 minutes of lower lumbar exercises, then 30 minutes stretching and breathing all muscle groups and joints combined with Chi Gong, ending with a 10 minute passive spinal adjustment that aligns all the vertebra while you lay flat on the floor with towels after doing a spinal twist to melt the disks in your back. Your entire health will change and gain an ability to do pretty much anything you would like to do with in reason. Bottom line three days a week of light conditioning and on the heavy days consider any instructor should be teaching to your specific age and health concerns/ if it is not healthy for you or going to cause injury then why do it?? I would also highly recommend you buy and read the book Fit For Life and Fit For Life II This diet life style book is written with the concept of Chi Gong in mind and can really speed up or assist with improving your health and energy. My view on all of this is.... That Kukiwon will be the only legitimate Rank certification headquarters in the world. Im under GM Hwang (whom by the way I havent spoken to or heard from it some years) I helped start the ICMAF to help unite all arts under one banner. We have Masters working with us to insure legitimacy in the ARTS I can help you with your paperwork though Kukiwon. I dont feel the ITF is strong enough anymore they have 3 different organizations (3 ITF's) and one wont accept certificates from the other. So my personal option is Kukiwon. My 2 cents. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
