Those purpose made for 'combat' will be far more likely result in legal issues later on than will a simple old stock cane that you can get for $15 at most any Feed and Grain store. Plus you save a bunch of money and they are just as useful for -any- purpose you might have in mind. **************************** So true. I did an interview last week for The International Society of Close Quarter Combatants, I discussed weapons for self-defense with an emphasis on the cane. Check it out at: _http://www.survive-the-street.com/_ (http://www.survive-the-street.com/) In that interview I point out that modifying a cane into a "weapon" can get you into trouble with the law. Just a plane old cane can still be used very effectively and won't be so easy to turn around on you later. I teach the same message in my cane seminars and classes and will include it with the new cane video I'm shooting with Paladin Press. I think you all know the answer to this one... "We plan to send the new textbook in March to all WTF member national associations, as part of our continued efforts to promote taekwondo around the world," said Grandmaster Woon-Kyu Uhm, president of the Kukkiwon. The Kukkiwon published a newly revised and expanded edition of the Taekwondo Textbook in September 2005, the first revision in 18 years. The new textbook, both in Korean and English, contains taekwondo's basic movements and poomsae in a standardized and unified manner, which the Kukkiwon hopes will serve as a guidebook for taekwondo practitioners around the world. "The textbook will greatly contribute to the scientific development of taekwondo, as it explains the principles of taekwondo's techniques and poomsae scientifically," said WTF President Chugnwon Choue. "The distribution of the new textbook to our member national associations is very timely as we organize the 1st WTF World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships in September this year in Seoul." The contents of the textbook are the history of taekwondo, the philosophy of taekwondo spirit, the scientific basis of taekwondo, the instruction of taekwondo, the basic motions of taekwondo, poomsae, taekwondo kyorugi, taekwondo demonstration, taekwondo competition rules and interpretation, training of taekwondo players, prevention of injuries in taekwondo, and appendix. For further information on the textbook, you may contact the publishing company at 82-2-2635-5667. --__--__-- Message: 5 Date: Sun, 19 Feb 2006 21:02:25 -0800 (PST) From: jay de leon To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [The_Dojang] Re: [Eskrima] Arnis school Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Bakbakan Int'l/ Rey Galang has their headquarters and training facilities in Lodi, New Jersey.
