They show your "invitation" to a sporting event, and as soon as they enter the good ole' US of A, they do a disappearing act that would make Houdini proud. Then comes the good part........guess who the State Dept. contacts to try and find this rodent....YOU!!.....Let me give you a brief outline of how the conversation will go....."you sent this guy an invitation to enter our country and you didn't know him?" Kim when I lived in CT but didn't go through with it probably because he may have been too far once I moved. Jye Benjamin Nall wrote: I thought that was a good article, but I wasn't really surprised that it was by Sang H. Kim. I have developed a lot of respect for him which all started from buying this DVD on the first 8 Tae Guk forms for TKD, which was very simple, and nicely produced. Whatever happened to 'perseverance'? IMVVHO a cho dan BB has learned the rudiments of an art. Progress beyond that point includes both internal [self motivation and commitment to mastery of the smallest elements of techniques], and external [learning new forms, constant refining of techniques] elements. Why do you think that rather than months between testings as a yu gup ja it becomes years between testing testings as a yu dan ja? After all, in ITF-TKD, at any rate, it doesn't take YEARS to merely learn a form. But striving for perfection does take longer than a few months. The longer I train, the more improvement I see in the forms I learned 10+ years ago. My Chon-ji is getting positively decent. In fact, over the next decade I hope to improve it to the respectable level. 'A block is a block and a punch is a punch', but mastery is a lifelong journey. Others have discussed in depth the American 'fast-food' mentality. If you are teaching a sound MA with traditional values, then the retained BB's are gold and the drop-outs are dross. --__--__-- Message: 9 From: "Don Ross" To: "dojang_digest" Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2006 19:21:49 -0500 Subject: [The_Dojang] Retention of BB's Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net My apologies to the DD. He seems to think that he is doing MUCH better and has regained a portion of the weight he lost due to his illness. He is taking it slow and plans to be able to get back on the golf course in a few months and then on the floor of his dojang after that. As a personal observation, he sounded well and was fully optimistic about a complete recovery......J. R.
