It's a matter of time and commitment in my > opinion . . . . > > > it is also a matter of the individual... yes, some people can learn two different arts at once, but are they mastering either? some people are not interested in mastering an art, and not everyone trains for the same reasons or with the same commitment...like everything in life, you get out what you put in. do you really need to "master" an art to be competent in it? i dont know, but i think not. i believe that if you want to try to really learn or "master" a martial art, you should commit to just one...and cross train when you can...you can never have too many bullets in your gun, but make sure your gun can fire them first. But are they simply better technicians than those with less skill? You see I think there is a point in time when a person passes beyond being a technician - perhaps a very talented one at that - and becomes an artist. Going back to the music analogy - there are a lot of people out there that can play and sing at a very good level, better than the masses. But there are a few greats like the Pavarotti's of the world. > so to speak...when they see the big picture and not the storyboard >fragments that everyone else is looking at during training. Perhaps, but I think there might be more to it than this. I don't know if we can define it so easily. But lets get to the real reason why TKD is being voted out of Olympics because it is boring!!!!!!! The traditional full contact rule has been watered down into something Gold medalist now are at Green belt level from 1974. Crap what is with making a point as you fall down with a grazing hit to the head. Its about one man standing not looking at some stupid computer to see who is one point ahead????????? My master of 35 years hung his head and said they should call it Kwon Do because no one knows how to use their hands anymore?? In the second World tournament if you had taken the gloves off people would have died from their hearts stopping from being punched right through the chest protector. Invest in some good attorney's that can protect the USAT for full contact at least above age 18??? What is this crap about don't even attempt contact to the head. JEEZZZZZZZZEEEEEE!!!!!!!! How am I supposed to train fighters to defend and then fight to the head BullLLLLLLLL bring back the blood and the knock outs. It is an honor to be beaten by a better man but even better to have the crowd cheer the under dog who refuses to be beaten. We have no dogs anymore just Pussy's. Coming from a man who wrote a top ten business plan in 1990 raising 25 million in cash and 150 million in equipment financing on the basis of media research and ratings ect. Where is our media support for the Olympics?????????? We have worked 3 decades out of pocket to get TKD to the Olympics and you can't even find it on the network Schedules you want money bring back quality fighting then get the right people and schedules on the networks. Good God people drinking bear and eating sausage waving brooms at some piece of crap on the ice are getting better coverage than us?????????? I understand wanting to protect youth but let them cry and bow out bring back the real fighting. They used to decide elected officials by one man standing and when they used men of letters ( attorneys ) the country ran badly. ( Korea) The real distinction between full contact and the in the air arts was that they can't apply what they do in real application because of no real simulation. The art of sport full contact is to simulate life and death struggle with out dying and there for gives the person some form of immortality by surviving not just winning points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing can replace a good knock out or down regardless of points. I also want to bring up the point of State organizations and family. TKD is about more than sport, money and Olympics. My GM is doing well with the new system of regional qualifier's and opens but those of us in outer regions like Alaska are dying. It killed the State organization and for those of us that are so remote that can only afford getting out once a year the USAT membership now means nothing. Give us a reason to pay dues again and to have a taste of national membership that can benefit us who are just trying to help the average person with TKD life style. Also as of late I was unable to pull up your web site please provide a link and we will post it on our websites and other information. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
