But the trick is not in breaking the fingers, it is in NOT breaking the fingers. Once you break their finger/s the pain is reduced. You want to turn on and turn off the pain via the technique. Taking the technique to the point where you actually break their finger should not be the intent. Unless, that is, you have the perp well secured via other means and it is now time to proceed on to fingers two, three, four and .... But what I am getting at is that if you dig deep enough long enough you will come to only two sources of power good and evil and that taking a perspective of where do you get your MA power from at its origins will benefit a person mentally and physically especially with healing. As for enlightenment, when you study under a real master or GM they have a sense of what you need to learn and focus on. They give you just one thing to learn and when the student shows respect by working hard until they have accomplished that one thing then the master/GM rewards them with another step in progression. However many fail because they decide they know better or are finished before they have accomplished what was given them. Hence if the teacher is not respected he stops teaching or introduces discipline to help them reflect their path. Discipline is not punishment but rather teaching with love, which could involve pain but not for pain's sake but as a teaching tool to redirect attention and focus. Doesn't it seem to make more sense that the ultimate teacher will reward you for giving him credit for what you are doing and learning as opposed to giving that respect to a snake, rat, rock, dirt or some man/ethnic culture. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
