It should be an easy way to find a HKD dojang in your neighbourhood. http://www.hapkidoforum.com/dojangmap/ Zoom in on the place where your gym is located. Click one time on the map on the street where you gym is located. A little green marker will appear. Doubleclick this marker and enter the right information. You will get an email to confirm your entry. Just HKD gyms please. -- kind regards, Klaas Barends www.hapkidoforum.com --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 05:43:42 -0700 (PDT) From: "Jason E. This is the second time that Gurung, a former Olympian from Nepal, had been selected as a coach to represent the US national team. Gurung is leading the US team in the 9th World University Taekwondo Championship currently being held in Valencia, Spain, from May 16 to 20, 2006. "Having Master Narayan Gurung as coach of the USA National Team and his continuing dedication to taekwondo speaks well of his training as a youth in Nepal," said the Taekwondo World of Oregon state, affiliated with Kukkiwon and USA Taekwondo in a statement. Gurung was selected from a group of many capable and qualified coaches from throughout the US. He also represented as the US national coach for World University Games in Daegu, Korea in 2003. "It's a great honor for our taekwondo family of Nepal and the USA," the statement said. Gurung represented Nepal in 1992 Barcelona Olympics and has competed in dozens of international competitions winning two gold medals, one silver and four bronze between 1986 to 1992. He also worked as an instructor for Nepal Sports Council for five years from 1988 to 1992 before leaving for the US. Gurung, who currently resides in the US is working as the director for four taekwondo dojangs in Oregon and is also the coach for the Oregon State Taekwondo team since 1995. --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "Howard Spivey" To: Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 17:39:30 -0400 Subject: [The_Dojang] RE: Prosecutors Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Don, I definitely agree with your point about prosecutors usually being elected, which means they are politicians - enough said. We all know about politicians. But, following this logic, don't you think that in many cases a person who defended themselves *using reasonable force* from a thug would get favorable treatment from the prosecutors? After all, they can then grandstand about taking one more dangerous career criminal who preys on innocent, law-abiding citizens off the street, right? Regards, Howard Don wrote: "Most prosecutors are elected lawyers, a lot of them using the Prosecutors' office as a stepping-stone to higher elective office - in a word, they are political creatures. Therefore, they are more concerned about favorable headlines than 'justice.' The won/lost record is important: plea bargains help them A. 'win' weak/non-existent/shoddy cases without having to do any work and B. mollify their consciences, 'well at least I got that criminal off the streets for a little while.' Self-defense cases, and especially those involving firearms present free political advertising for prosecutors. As other contributors have stated, protecting yourself on the street is only part of the equation. The 'truth' will not necessarily set you free: headlines, political aspirations, public perceptions, and money have more impact on yur future domicile after successful self-defense on the street than the 'law.' Remember OJ's $6 million defense?" --__--__-- Message: 5 From: joconnor@cybermesa.com To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] RE: Prosecutors Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 16:19:16 -0600 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > I definitely agree with your point about prosecutors usually being > elected, which means they are politicians - enough said. Possibly because a year later when the elections come up it can be spun as "percentage of cases tried leading to conviction" wihout regards to whether any individual cases should have been tried in the first place Possible because one persons 'self defense' is another persons 'vigalanteeism', at least as seen through some eyes Take care, Jay --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 20:17:41 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma To: MartialArtsTalk@yahoogroups.com Subject: [The_Dojang] video clip: random break Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hn0NnOU0Kw&search=martialarts%20kung-fu --------------------------------- Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min.
