His first two children, Bobby IV, and Nate were born there. I have heard some wonderful stories about them hiking in the mountains with Hwang Kee KJN. And being a Student of Shipley SBN, you do get some good and lengthy discourses on the History of Korea, how the language came to be, (It is an Altaic language more similar to Turkish, remembering that the Monguls ruled Korea for a time) and other interesting tidbits. His classes are always very interesting and sweaty with too many things to remember. His wife says that he speaks better Korean than she does, and of course she is a native. Also, not to bore anyone, but Shipley Sa Bom Nim, is a linquist, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, some Greek, not to mention Hawaiian. It was his influence that led me to begin my studies in the Han Ja characters, which led one of my students to a deeper study, just now finishing his PHD in Asian studies, now fluent in Chinese, passable Korean, and teaching english in Lanzhou, China. Don't get me started.
