Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net I got tired of the back and forth, and looked up some stuff on MRSA. Most stuff I look at says its curable, but there was one item from the CDC that said it was curable, but could come back (?). So I guess that just means you could get it again, but duh, you can get rid of a cold, then get another one. Its definitly bad stuff. I even found items that said the meds had to be given IV style, orally wouldn't work. So...don't get this crap. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/ar_mrsa_ca_public.html#12 http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/ar_mrsa_ca_public.html#13 http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/ar_mrsa_ca_public.html#8 http://www.swisheronline.com/hygiene-feature-article.html http://www.bucknell.edu/2020/index.html?id=54660923 Ya'll play nice now. :) Moving on ??? In Tang Soo Do, we use the terminology dwi tollyo chagi for turning back kick, which literally translated is dwi=back, tollyo=dolya=turning and chagi=kick. Your "deyo dura" which we Romanize as "dwi ro tora" is the command or active for Turn to Rear, or literally dwi=rear, ro=to(toward) and tora="turn" (active command). Bahl, by the way means leg. There are several others here who either speak Korean or are married to Koreans who can give you more detailed info, as mine is limited to martial arts. My thanks to Dr. Covington, but he is mistaken. I really don't know that many martial artists in SC. Most of the folks I know are from the Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas area. On another note, Dr. Covington is the ISA Representative in Korea. He will be our (ISA) link to the North and the South Korea martial arts institutions. Master Steven Riggs probably knows more about the martial artists in SC than I do. Respectfully, George I. How many of y'all have "open" dressing rooms? At my previous school, we had dressing rooms that just had a curtain on it (people had plenty of space to change without being "exposed" when the curtain was pulled to the side). The thought process was to not provide a locked / closed area where anything improper could happen with a child, etc., and to decrease liability... Of course, we still had the bathroom, sooooo... Does anyone else subscribe to that theory or have anything to offer on it? At my current school, we have public bathrooms (the school is at a youth center) for the students to use, and they are part of the main facility... Thanks! **bows** - Bert Edens, II Dan TKD Springdale, Arkansas -----Original Message----- You know, that's a good point about the dressing rooms. We've been using locks on the dressing rooms and what you say about individuals locking them is true at our school too. I wonder what ramifications we would see if we took the locks off? The doors are clearly marked: MEN and WOMEN. This is enough for public restrooms but, they have stalls for dropping your drawers in private. Perhaps, that's not the same. --__--__-- Message: 7 Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] RE: Dressing Rooms To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net From: Victor.E.Dodge@jci.com Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2006 10:39:48 -0500 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Mr. Edens & all, At my school, there are two restroom/dressing/shower/locker rooms. Neither has a door. However, in the men's room, there is a double sink, a large stall (for handicap access)with a door for the toilet, two shower stalls with curtains and an open locker/changing area. _________________________________________________ | O O | | | | | _ \/ | SINK | TOILET | SHWR1 |SHWR2 | LOCKERS | | | | | | | | --------------- ^^^^^ ^^^^^ CHANGING | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is a bench for removing and storing shoes. Another one I like is at http://www.zkorean.com/reference. The original email (below) made the assumption that "the term 'dolya chagi' refers to a roundhouse kick". This is of course, not correct, dollyo chagi is a turning kick. Often, many instructors will change the translations of words as Klaas stated "many Korean techniques have been translated in many different ways." But in the end, it is only important that you get the technique done correctly even if you call it a green tomato. :) Jere R. Perhaps just have an open class room with no chairs, no doors....just four padded walls and padded floor. I tell ya, it's annoying trying to do the right thing and think like a criminal, sue happy leech, and a pervert. I read some news releases of folks and wonder how they can be so creative in such a twisted way. We can’t avoid all the possible scenarios but we do the best we can by limiting the obvious and having a "no-games" presence on the floor. The only way to avoid a possible car accident is to stay at home. For those of you thinking of remodeling don't forget ADA laws. My understanding is 20% of your remodeling budget must be allocated to comply with ADA. Another source contention on various levels.
