Sorry Ray, I just can't face that video again. From what I remember: - attacks that were poorly applied (hair grab, full-nelson, etc.) -- no meaning or force behind them. - a sabum t'onjigi that would never have made it to completion. - an uppercut to the side of the body as a distraction, I guess. Pathetic! - a major outer reap executed like an axe kick. I leave it to everyone else to complete this test! West, Ji Han Jae, Les Connard, Holcombe Thomas, and many many more outstanding Hapkido Players...my conclusion is that the less people know about joint locks the higher up they seem to be when they move......novice seems to equal....slight knee bend during joint locks......complete fraud seems to equal hardly any recognizable knee bend during joint locks....people like the ones I've mentioned above with much respect seem to move like a Jaguar after a wild boar when they do joint locks....or like me after an ice cream truck the next street over....plenty of knee bend,, single mindedness of intent...and they look like they've done that move a million times.....that's because...THEY HAVE!!! There is no substitute for lots of practice...and there is also no bullshit story or certificate you can give me when I see that you haven't practiced a lot.....Michael Tomlinson >From: "Burdick, Dakin Robert" >Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net >To: >Subject: [The_Dojang] Combat Hapkido youtube >Date: Sun, 17 Dec 2006 11:27:29 -0500 > > >> looks like the same hapkido I've been seeing: > >> http://youtube.com/watch?v=elGzqs7rd5c > > >Test... > > >The video quality is poor and the logo blocks out some of the errors at >the > >start, but how many errors in technique can you spot? > >Sorry Ray, I just can't face that video again. Who ever told MA people that the Mortal Kombat soundtrack is THE soundtrack for martial arts demos/events should be put in front of a firing squad...lol. You know more and more I'm coming across MA video clips that are repeatitive. TKD usually shows the olympic style sparring, some forms, ALOT OF TRICKS, demo stuff, and that's about it. Kuk sool won and hwarangdo stuff is extremely repetitive as they look like hapkido, and hapkido clips show alot of 'wrist twisting'. Now I've come across some Karate (okinawan) clips that kept me glued to the monitor. The intensity, the substance in the clips were amazing. Even one where you saw them warm up for class. Those are the things I like to see more of, the REAL training, the less glorious side. ok my belly is grumbling time to find something to "GET IN MY BELLY",,,lol. By the way, unless you have kids that wont make since....(it's from a kid's movie) Jye "Burdick, Dakin Robert" wrote: Jye wrote: >looks like the same hapkido I've been seeing: > http://youtube.com/watch?v=elGzqs7rd5c OMG.
