I haven't trained in about a year and have recently moved about half-way between Cumming and Buford, GA. I'm looking to restart my training and need a new school. I'm curious if anyone has a recommendation for a school or club in my area. I'd prefer an adults only class in a preferably a non-commercial type of setting. I have to train at night due to family and work commitments. I'm more interested in a serious, martial arts type school as opposed to a sports based school. Thanks for any recommendations, Chuck _____________________________________________________________________________ _______ Do you Yahoo!? Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo! I was interested in the national licensing program that USTU had started but they like so many organizations lacked moral fiber that is given much lip service but treated as do as I say not as I do. Most and many leading GM Martial arts promote adultery, drinking or more and bad money handling practices which led to the down fall of USTU owing almost a million in taxes to the IRS. I could tell you story after story. The problem is not the pedophile they exist in every organization you think of, Police and Church on and on. The damage is already done to a large majority of children in this country that have no family or structure and a school system that does not have the tools to deal with it. We have decades of bad parents creating damaged kids becoming bad parents. Licensing may make you feel better but will not stop the problem. Only God can step in and do his will regarding this and it is up to all good men who are true black belts dedicated to service of others and to defend the weak to come together in Prayer and willing to do God's will. If you really want to help I encourage you to get in touch with GM Martin at master@alaska.net the founder of the WCTF World Christian Tae Kwon Do Federation. Give him your support and encouragement and good things will happen. While agree that there are many certificates not worth the paper written on a person can still judge a tree by its fruit. No forged or made up certificate can replace experience on a state, national and international level of teaching and coaching combined with a calling from God to do this work. GM Martin's full time job is working with youth offenders in the justice system so he may have some very interesting thoughts on this. My concern is on the most efficient way to actually help the children with funds available going to them not an organization's overhead that eats up 90% of the money in overhead and makes no progress. Look at Social Services or Chile Protective Services in many cases they do more harm than good. Airport security TSA is a joke most those people would be working at Burger King and wouldn't know a threat from turd in their pocket. What a waste of time and money?? My wife is very good at being able to find real time court records on line for arrests and pending court action and the sex offender list with color pictures of offenders is really good in Alaska and I feel in every state. Pedophiles or abusers are not a one time happening they have been in trouble before and a quick look to the current records available usually does the job. Just remember that when you create a machine to solve a problem the machine soon forgets about problem and becomes only concerned with the fuel to keep it alive and running??? Only programs that give structure and life skills to these kids on a year round basis is going to give them a chance to rise above the damage that has already been done and to deal with what is coming in the future no matter what. Help the good men do more leave the bad men to God yours in TKD Master Dan _____ From: tkdsid@aol.com [mailto:tkdsid@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 27, 2006 5:30 AM To: masterdan@gci.net Subject: Re: Dan, I have heard that lament now for over 40 years but it doesn't square with the facts. In every place that a profession has been licensed and its members fingerprinted, there has been a huge decrease in child abuse. Licensing of martial artists exists in quite a few places around the world. Beyond the sexual abuse, it would curtail phony dan certificates, standardize practice and add a professionalism to martial arts. The fear that most masters have is that it will hurt them financially and they would loose some independence. When one considers the rampant abuse of dan credentials, the children hurt...I couldn't possibly care less about the concerns of a few masters. It is most curious to see just how deeply this issue cuts when there are people that categorically deny any value to certification and simply refuse to discuss it. One day, it will happen. This has been proposed in a few states already and as the child abuse continues it hastens the day for government supervision. I am a member of International Sung Ja Do which is a fine Christian organization. I wish to thank you for your response to my initial e-mail. I am most curious as to why you feel it won't work.
