This can range from property damage to manslaughter. So, what I'm getting at is: it's not just you in danger, your surroundings; even a few blocks away can come into play. You could be imprisoned for manslaughter of someone two blocks away while trying to protect yourself or your family from a wolf or black sheep. -Oklahoma celebrates its centennial this year. 100 years ago, half of the town folk would have helped you shoot the jerk and you'd be a hero. Gordon Okerstrom ************************* I'd be very interested in seeing what statute that is, and are you saying it is a strict liability law? From there, all the techniques from various positions, are designed to keep the muzzle from ever coming back to be directed toward you --------------------------------------- we also add in the awareness of others in the training room/area to be sure that youre not simply clearing the muzzle only to have your peers get blown away if the attacker fires before you have control of the weapon. on a side note, i'm going to green valley in columbia in a couple weeks for my ccw training with my handy dandy new sigpro 2022 9mm with trijicon night sites and crimson trace grips. good to know they offer advanced training as well. thanks to whomever posted that info. take care, melinda Chajonshim Martial Arts Academy _www.cjmaa.com_ (http://www.cjmaa.com/) 1.573.445.6636 Chajonshim Martial Arts Supply _www.cjmas.com_ (http://www.cjmas.com/) 1.877.847.4072 Columbia Investigations _www.columbiainvestigator.com_ (http://www.columbiainvestigator.com) 1.573.673.2485 --__--__-- Message: 13 From: - - To: Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 23:55:11 +0000 Subject: [The_Dojang] GUN DEFENSE Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Sorry guys, I agree with all the hipocrisy about the gun defenses-I showed my son the "telegraping" last night too,,But,for the life of me I cant remember the "First" rule about gun defense.Simply stated it had to do with intent,,,,Are they there for your money , ,let em have it-something in the body language tells you theyre there to do you injury,,thats when you need to defend yourself quickly.Been trying to remember what it was since the beginning of this post and it just eludes me,,,there was some simple, basic thing,,,that told you this person was going to shoot you-whether u gave them the money or not With all the centuries of MA here someones got to remember BAAL _________________________________________________________________ Try amazing new 3D maps http://maps.live.com/?wip=51 --__--__-- Message: 14 From: "WTSDA Bruce" To: Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] guns and liability Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 19:19:02 -0600 Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Hopefully the P/O was speaking about AFTER the disarm has taken place, be it a knife, firearm or ball bat. If you remove the weapon from the attacker, and turn around and use it on him/her, you then become the offender. This all depends on size, gender, and physical capabilities of both parties. Hopefully if it comes to a hearing the Judge/Jury will weight the factors and rule accordingly. Bottom line, it is my feeling (and this is a common cliché) I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon" To: Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 11:20 AM Subject: [The_Dojang] guns and liability > it is a strict liability law? > > Alain> > > It flabbergasted me!
