I would recommend using a simple program like MovieMaker or iMovie first. Your focus should be on the martial arts techniques on the DVD, not the technique used to make your DVD look fancy. In the beginning people usually over use the possibilities a program offers. Using way to many different transfers, all kinds of different writing jumping in and out of the screen. Stick to one transfer and one font. Try to teach on the DVD you make. Don't just show techniques, pretend you are teaching your regular class at friday night and talk! Explain what you are doing, while you are doing it. When making a DVD use the extra functionality a DVD can over you (multiple camera angles). To many DVD's are just video tapes burned to a DVD with one lousy menu. A DVD already has a 'slow motion' button, so there is little need for showing that kick once more in slow motion, unless you are giving extra explanation (voice over). We had a stocky skin headed kid come into out class, walk up to a crowd of us and ask " who's the best fighter out of you lot" I didn't know whether to laugh of not. Anyway he went on to spar some of the senior belts. He got spanked pretty hard. It was fun to watch. The moral of the story is never go looking for a fight! _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list, 2,100 members The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang **************************************************************************** SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES Go to London Fire at www.london-fire.gov.uk/firesafety This email is confidential to the addressee only. Sometimes we need to give a little "effort" to those who are "undisciplined" individual and sometimes they are the ones that last long.
