You may well have answered my question. I want do reflexology. Although the it does not require that I apply or even understand Ki, I just thought it'd be useful to a get a grip with. Apparently a good reflexogolist can intuitively feel if there is anything wrong with the patient. All the best guys. Pointing your finger to direct your throw isn't that effective but when there is good execution of a technique, it shouldn't be neglected. Of course, there are conditional cases. It also for me seemed to add to the crispness of performing certain actions. More of the feel of throwing an object, like a baseball. Try this when holding on to something, to not have the index finger as part of the grip. I get to regularly practice this when commuting to work on the subway. Smith, Jr. > United Martial Arts Society > President > www.umas.biz Master Smith, it will be a pleasure to meet you on that weekend. I too plan on being there and am looking forward to learning some new and painful techniques from such a great line up of masters.I have always enjoyed training with Master Gordon and his group. any event he has put on has been top notch all the way. Gm Timmerman and Gm Hwang at the same time is a dream come true for me because it covers off both of my passions, hapkido and taekwon do. This will definitely be the event of the year for me!!! and the one nice thing about going to Florida, is that if Gm Timmerman decides that he wants me to jump in the water as part of my training, I wont have to break ice to do it this time.. :) looking forward to seeing everyone in Florida April 13th - 15th/07 yours in the arts, Dusty Miner, Kwanjang --__--__-- Message: 4 Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] Re: flow of the Ki To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2007 09:34:16 -0800 (PST) From: rterry@idiom.com (Ray) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net This one is even better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NExoT38sjj4&NR But neither have anything to do with ki. In my opinion from experience with doing fingertip pushups, I'm with you guys, it's physical but yet mental as well. you have to picture it being done in your mind. then you have to build up the finger to do this task. I believe the body will reinforce the finger to be able to withstand the weight being placed on it. When I first started doing fingertip pushups, they hurt and I could barely do them. After doing them for a while I could do them with ease. Then I went from using all my fingers to only 4 fingers (pointer finger and thumb) on each hand. so I know doing this can be done. The only thing that I can say has to do with chi is the mental will power to believe you can do it. Now those mystic chi believers will say they had to build up chi to be able to do this. I was impressed at how he poked a hole in a canvas bag, but still if you take one finger and everyday hit the tip of it on an iron surface, the body would build it up to the point of being able to poke through a canvas bag. No different from a railroad worker having really dense hands and if they smack you they'd cause you real damage. I used to be a real believer in chi power being something real that the body needed, but as I go deeper in my walk To/with Christ I'm finally seeing the error of my ways. Chi masters claim if you improve your chi you'll live longer, control your breathing and you'll live longer and be healthy, how many times have we heard of some of these same masters dying from cancer? why not heal the cancer? lol. Now don't get me wrong, I do believe in certain concepts such as breathing. I believe in chi being mind intent and power being in developing that mind intent and breathing exercises, but all that other universal power coming down from the heavens into your body is for the birds. sorry if I offend anyone, but I have to call it what it is, another form of spiritualism, spiritism, occult satanic mess. Starting to pick up some momentum and looking forward to seeing everyone. For those that didn’t know about it, it is very intentional that this isn’t a “XYZ organizational” event nor is it discipline specific outside of being lead by Korean stylists. We have several guest instructors representing various arts and organizations. As Master Miner alluded to, I too enjoy the Taekwondo arts and Hapkido arts and both arts has a ninth degree representing them with Grand Master Timmerman and Grand Master Hwang. Most of the instructors leading seminars hold dan ranking in more than one art. In regards to freezing waters (still have flash backs of the polar bear swim a few months back while in Canada while visiting my NKMAA friends), Destin Beaches are about 45ish minutes away depending on traffic from tourists. No ice....but watch for sharks. LOL! Hotel information, registration, directions, information on the website at www.SouthEastMA.com. For those that can’t make it, put it on the schedule next year. If you can’t make due to time/distance, find somewhere to get on the mat and have fun training. There are a few events being held that day around the country so don’t let the distance be an excuse. Find one of the closer events and train. Life is short. Master Terry, thank you for the bandwidth!
