I used to be a real believe that Christ was something that men needed, but as I have come to know that it is all just in the mind I'm finally seeing the error of my ways. How many times have we heard of people who claim that they can heal through the power of Christ? And how many people have put regular medicine aside because some charlatan preacher told them to?? My point being: there is a rotten apple in every basket. -- mvg. The God of the Jews, Christians or Muslims? I'm going to assume Christian. If there is ONE God, then how are we to worship? Seems like there's a lot of different interpretations of his/her/its intentions. If there is a single God, then I doubt anyone down here knows what he/she/it wants. And if there are a lot of gods, like a lot of people on this planet believe, then it gets really tough. But, in the interest of being specific: Do I believe in an all-powerful being who made the universe? No. Do I think there is an all-powerful being who made the universe? Don't know -maybe. Do I think we are the highest form of life in the universe? No. Do I believe in spirits (holy or otherwise) entering the body? No. Am I a Christian? Don't know. I like the New Testament a lot better than the Old though. Do I believe in an afterlife? Don't know. So I guess I'm still agnostic. I'm sure this one will spark a number of replies. Please send flames to me and not to the list, ok? Yours in the arts, Dakin dakinburdick@yahoo.com I apologize for being a little behind the power curve as I did not sit down to read the DD until this morning (12 Feb 07). Mr. Dankin, first I think it is unfair to post your beliefs, or lack of them, in a public forum then ask we not respond in that same form. Let’s talk about God. Yes, the one you define as “Christian”. This “Christian” God is the same God of the Old Testament (the God of the Jews), and Ishmael was the son of Abram (later renamed Abraham) and Hagar the servant of Sarai (later renamed Sarah) Abram’s wife. Ishmael is believed by some to be the founder of Islam (what some refer to as Muslim). All the same God. You claim not to believe in an all powerful being that created the universe, then in the next you claim “ Don't know –maybe” about if you THINK an all powerful being created the universe. None belief is a firm stand on a concept, where as don’t know – maybe leaves room for exploration of a concept. I am NOT calling or implying God as a concept; He is real, alive, and active in our lives. As to spirits, if you like the New Testament then I am sure you have run across the expulsion of evils spirits by Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Let help you with the Christian question...Romans 10: 9 -10 (9) “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (10) for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Finally the Afterlife…if you walk down a railroad track long enough you will encounter a train. It doesn’t matter if you believe in the train or didn’t know/see it is coming. When it hits you it is real. It is up to the individual as to where they will spend eternity…Smoking or Non-Smoking. Mr. Dankin you have voiced your view/beliefs and I mine. If you wish to continue please feel free to email me at rwood@moberly.k12.mo.us or rkjw03@mywdo.com. With Respect Rev. Robert L. Clearly, the God of Abraham is the same God for the Jews, Muslims and Christians. On that point there is no confusion. But that has little to do with martial arts. Please take it offline or to a forum for such discussion. Thanks.
