Without being TOO politically incorrect, in my neck of the woods a camo belt or uniform would be considered very G.A.Y. !! (If I can express that in this forum) --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2007 07:25:28 -0700 (PDT) From: Jonathan Boorstein Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] camo belt is corny To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Interesting, considering that in my neck of the woods no self-respecting gay martial artist would even go near camo belt or uniform. Uniforms that are too clean and too starched, yes; camo, no. JB Sprite wrote: Yes Jye, I agree. The only time we've used it is with the Little Ninjas (3-5 year olds)... But what we're working with them on is gross motor skills, discipline and the like, rather than forms and sparring and such... So it doesn't bother us much to restart their belts when they get to junior age, and neither do they (or their parents). But to that age group, a camo belt looks really cool, and since it's mostly about fun and keeping them in the program at that age, it works... *bows* - Bert Edens Springdale, Arkansas -----Original Message----- Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2007 08:15:19 -0700 (PDT) From: Jye nigma Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] belt colors To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net sorry but a camo belt is corny...lol. no offense. He now coaches a University team. His spinning kick knocked out his opponent in the finals of the 2004 Athens Olympics. He then retired and started a new coaching career. Now he will come back to compete in the next Olympics in Beijing. In a telephone interview with the Dong-A Ilbo yesterday, he said, "Folks around me have encouraged me. They insisted that I continue my career. I myself wish to compete in the Olympics again." Teaching his team for the last three years, Mun reportedly gained the confidence that he could be a top athlete again. In the 80kg weight class, no athlete has stood out so far since his retirement. Mun, however, will have to compete against younger players. He will have to prove himself in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers. --__--__-- Message: 8 Subject: Re: [The_Dojang] camo belt is corny To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2007 20:06:39 -0700 (PDT) From: rterry@idiom.com (Ray) Reply-To: the_dojang@martialartsresource.net > In my neck of the woods...it would be a "rainbow belt" that would make you > look gay.... and a purple spandex uniform??? :) Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com --__--__-- _______________________________________________ The_Dojang mailing list The_Dojang@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/the_dojang Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://the-dojang.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/the_dojang Copyright 1994-2007: Ray Terry and http://MartialArtsResource.com Standard disclaimers apply.
